  1. If you can get Hilton Downtown Miami at a good price then go for it. For some reason many hotels in Miami are very expensive and sometimes the best prices you can get on a good hotel in Miami is a hotel belonging to the Hilton chain. I stayed at the Hilton Downtown Miami in November 2018 and was pleased with the hotel. They have a very good gym with a view of the harbor. It's one of the biggest hotel gyms I have ever seen. The rooms are big and clean. Nearby there are a few bigger grocery stores where you can get some snacks and also a liquor store. The hotel is conveniently placed so you have a short taxi ride to the cruise terminal or MIA if your going home. If you get a good price on the hotel I can recommend it. The only negative that surprised me was that, even if you are staying at the hotel, they charge you 2 $ per bag if you want to leave a bag in the reception for a day. If you arrive early at the hotel and your room is not ready yet, you need to pay 2 $ per bag if you go want to go exploring the city without your bag/bags. You can also check out Hilton Garden Inn at Miami South Beach. Stayed there in December 2018. The hotel is a bit old and the rooms are smaller but you can sometimes get a really good price here compared to other hotels in Miami Beach. And it is a short ride from the harbor. The staff there are super friendly at the reception, bar and valet. And the happy hour at the bar is priceworthy. And they store the bags for free in the reception! ? You can also search for Gale South Beach, Curio Collection by Hilton. Here you can also find rooms with a good rate.
  2. Hi I'm a long time lurker but registered because I need help from you experts. ? Can anyone who's been on a Royal Caribbean cruise in the Persian Gulf tell me about their experience? I tried to ask some question about some concerns I had in another thread but got no responses. The questions can be found here: Me and my wife like to travel and see new places. We have never been to The Middle East before. We believe cruising with Royal Caribbean would be a great and safe way to check out some of the highlights in that region. We are looking at a seven night cruise starting the 16th December with Jewel of the Seas as our travel agent has a great price on that itinerary. Have anyone gone on a cruise from Dubai? Please tell about your experiences. Also any suggestion on shore excursions? For security reason we plan on only booking excursions directly with Royal Caribbean. Because the whole region is Islamic, is that something that could affect our experience?
  3. This thread is already dead but I'll try to bring some life to it. Me and my wife is considering going on a cruise from Dubai with Jewel of the Seas. We have some cruise experiences with Royal Caribbeans other bigger ships in the Caribbean but this would be the first one in a different place and with a smaller ship. Can someone who have been on a cruise in Dubai tell about their experiences? Are there a lot of local Arabs as guests on the ship? How do they act towards a white christian, might we experience any racism from the other guests on board? Do the other (Muslim) guest stop what they are doing and start praying towards Mecca on the ship several times per day? Are my wife and I allowed to hold hands or kiss in public on the ship? Is it socially accepted to drink alcohol on the ship? Are there any special dress code my wife should be aware of? Any tips or advice is appreciated.
