  1. Oops, just wanted wanted to add that the best thing we brought is our magnetic hooks! Hubby bought four magnetic hooks at Home Depot for $6. We have three people in our inside stateroom and there are not enough places to hang wet swimsuits, towels, etc. All of the walls are metal of course, so it works great for us! Also, there are only two outlets in the room to charge things, so plan accordingly!
  2. I am here now on Adventure of the Seas. Left out of Port Bayonne/Cape Liberty yesterday. When they scanned our carry ons at security, they saw our three cases of soda and told us that only one was permitted per stateroom, and they took two away. Bummer! Yes, we knew the policy, but a lot of others on the boards said to give it a try, so we did. (Please do not judge?). The ship is ROCKING like crazy! We are heading now to Bermuda and it has been nonstop back and forth. Never needed Dramamine in our lives, and everyone that we know is taking it! CONSTANT MOTION! Thank God we packed it! Food is great, easy to find lots of great food! Great mix of people here, all ages. We were told there are currently 200 children on board. My son is 15 and went to the teen meet and greet last night and already has a pack of friends now to run around with. We have a dry erase board on our stateroom door and someone keeps drawing naked genitalia on it?????? My hubby is mad about that, but it is kind of funny to me????? I am open to any questions anyone has about the Adventure of the Seas. May take me a day or two to reply, since I am having so much fun!
  3. What no dessert? (Like I don’t get enough all day every day on a cruise!)
  4. I found a great cruise that leaves from Miami, but airfare for us to Miami was crazy expensive. Airfare was reasonable for Fort Lauderdale, which is about a 45 minute Uber ride. If a ship docks at Miami at 8:00am, has to clear customs, wait in lines, etc. then I catch an Uber to the Fort Lauderdale airport, after what time would you be comfortable booking your return flight? (I like to be extra cautious and not be freaking out that I might miss my flight!). I was thinking any time after noon?????
  5. I love to browse the menus before my vacations! I am sailing on Adventure of the Seas next month and I was looking for a current MDR menu. Does the whole fleet of Royal Caribbean ships have the exact same menu in the Main Dining Rooms, or does it vary from ship to ship?
  6. Sorry to trouble everyone with such a trivial question. My upcoming (second!) cruise changes time zones a few times. I know that I will be changing my watch to keep current with whatever time zone we are in throughout the trip, BUT is there a way for me to be sure that I am correct? Can I confirm what time zone I am in on my TV in my room, or is the current time posted somewhere that I can check? I do not want to be late for any activities or excursions. Thanks for answering my question, you all ROCK!
  7. Thanks so much for your quick reply! I could not find any details ANYWHERE on the internet....all it takes is this forum here! This is THE BEST! ?????
  8. I see on the new Coco Cay map that there are a few Snack Shacks on the island, which are included for no extra charge. I can not find a list of what they have to eat there....but I heard a rumor about fresh funnel cakes??? Any body know what all is on the menu there?
  9. I hope someone can give me some advice here! Booked a snorkeling excursion with Hat Trick Charters in Bermuda. Our ship docks at King’s Wharf for the day. Hat Trick says two choices: either take the bus and get off in Somerset Village, then short walk to Mangrove Bay Public Wharf OR take a taxi there. Has anyone done this before? We have three people, are taxis expensive in Bermuda? We have never been to Bermuda, so I am curious about the bus system, how often runs, is it easy to pick up, etc? Any advice is MUCH appreciated!
  10. I hate to bring this up, but we have only been on one cruise. It was the Harmony of the Seas this past summer. My son had just turned 14, and he looked 14 years old too. We gave every rule that posters above mentioned and my son agreed, but I did not think that adults would be giving kids as young as 13 or 14 alcohol on the ship. Literally, some grandparents were passing out alcoholic beverages to my son’s group of friends one night! Maybe some adults find it funny, or that the rules about underage drinking do not apply while on vacation.... I could tell you more, but I can summarize it by saying some adults do not care at all about underage drinking on a cruise.
  11. I am looking at the country inn and suites now too! Do they provide a shuttle to the cruise port? Should I Uber? Generally, we like to leave our car at the hotel and take a shuttle to the port, but maybe that can’t happen. Anyone know?
  12. Love this forum! I have one cruise under my belt now, yeah! We booked one for next year on Adventure of the Seas. We reserved My Time Dining for our family of three. If my teen son meets a friend that week, can he spontaneously ask his friend to join our table in the MDR? Is that allowed? Also, part two of my question: since we are a party of three, will they add people that we do not know to our table to “round it out”? (I was kind of hoping not to have to socialize with people we do not know, call me crazy....LOL). P.S. the people on this forum are so much nicer than other forums..the others get a bit snippy with each other!
  13. Just back from my first cruise on the Harmony. I was thrilled to have lobster on our second formal night, it made it seem like a high quality restaurant on the cruise. Later that week, in the MDR I ordered the crab cakes, Maryland style, as an appetizer. WOW, I was excited for more high quality seafood! What a disappointment!!! They were blatantly imitation crab, not even trying to pass for the real ones! Our whole table was floored at how they even called them crab cakes on the menu, say they are fake. I asked the waiter about them, and he shrugged and agreed they were fake too. It just brought the whole dining experience down a few notches. In my humble opinion, it brought the whole food quality WAY down for us, and I wrote about it when Royal Caribbean sent me the follow up survey about their food.
  14. We saw a few dogs last week that were definitely NOT service dogs. Ladies brought them into the Main Dining Room at dinner time in their open “purses”. The dogs were obviously very very spoiled by their wealthy owners I would say. My son asked one lady if he could pet her dog and she said that it is quite mean and bites strangers frequently!
  15. Just back from my first cruise, a week on the Harmony, a VERY BIG ship. Only our second to last night did we feel any motion on the ship, the rest of the time we never felt any movement, even when pulling in and out of ports! That was awesome, so it makes me wonder about my next cruise on Adventure of the Seas, a much smaller ship by comparison - will I feel more motion? Could it be bad? Any times of the year that can be worse, or locations? Thanks!
  16. Just back from a week on the Harmony. I am a marathon runner, so I was excited to try out the running track. It is completely out of the sun, and has some stellar views of the water, one water fountain, and some “secret” lounges hidden along the track for prime ocean viewing too. We even found the small area for dogs to do their business, but that is a different story.....anyways, running was HARD! After three laps, I called it quits, not sure if it was the humidity, the heat, or what but i could not get my laps in. I ran into other marathon runners all week, and they all said the same thing, so it is not just me. Some parents let their kids run the opposite direction on the track, which is just rude, dumb, and dangerous. The gym opens at 6:00 am and will be half full within half an hour. By 8:00, good luck finding equipment! There are no gym showers, but decent music plays throughout the gym, great modern equipment, and it is about 80 degrees there, so a bit warm to me. Kids under 12 are not allowed in the gym. Kids 13-15 need a parent to sign a waiver allowing them to use it all week, and then they get a wristband to wear all week. Hope this helps any gym rats!
  17. There is a more expensive option that is all you can eat and drink, alcohol included, but we do not drink alcohol (I am still fun, don’t judge??). And the food credit was more than enough for all of us. If you book with resortforaday they only offer the more expensive all inclusive option. We walked right up to the desk to Buy day passes. They gave us orange wristbands. Love your pictures!
  18. Holy cow! This was my one and only cruise disembarkation this morning, but WOW how easy! My party of five did self carry at 6:45am. No wait for the elevators at ALL! Walked off, showing our passports to one guy. From the time I walked out of my stateroom until I was calling for Uber was maybe five minutes! When we come back to the airport from another country at the Philadelphia airport, it has taken us up to two HOURS to do that process due to long lines, etc. I was FLOORED! We walked through without having our bags looked at, not even a scanner for them, not even a metal detector, just poof, walk off in minutes start to finish! It took longer getting off and on the ship in the ports that we visited! Needless to say, I got to the airport four hours early so I am on this board to kill time now!! Oh, we all did the mobile passport app on our phones too, so maybe that helped, but we never even showed it to ANYONE! You can only fill it in within four hours of departure time for it to be valid, so don,t bother filling it out the night before.
  19. Just off my very first cruise on Harmony of the Seas! I was on the 10th floor, room 10709, a boardwalk balcony. I was right above Johnnny Rockets. I could see the Fine Line show on my left and the carousel was on my right. It was very noisy, which surprised me, even when the balcony door was locked fully. That darn bell ringer at the carousel! Late at night sometimes groups of people on the Boardwalk would yell and scream, just having a good time, but I prefer quiet to sleep. If you want a quieter inside balcony, please choose a Central Park inside balcony, it was very peaceful, very green, MUCH quieter. My parents had the oceanvie balcony across the hall directly, room 10708. It was absolutely perfect! It was very quiet, great unobstructed view. In each port, they had the ultimate view , each port had the view on THEIR side of the ship, starboard side. We all gathered on their balcony as we went into each port, watching them tie off the ship and the guests going on and off the gangway. I did not realize how COOL it was to have a view of pulling into ports and having this side of the ship to see it from. Hope this advice helps you when choosing a room! ?
  20. We booked Adventure of the Seas June 14, 2019 out of Bayonne, since we can drive to the port. It is already over half booked already!
  21. Yesterday, around noon outside the MDR, I was washing my hands in the ladies bathroom. Someone had left a pretty gold ring with a few diamonds and colored stones on the sink. I turned it in to guest services. Hey, maybe the person who lost it reads this! I guess just call the cruise line to claim it?
  22. OK, I recently asked you all about Next Cruise. Well, this past week was my first ever cruise, on the Harmony! My Mom and I went to Next Cruise to get some prices on Day 2. You all were right, prices are all set, no haggling is done. My price that was quoted is the exact one quoted on their website and same as my travel agent, BUT the OBC is where it changes. My travel agent AND the website offer $25 OBC for an inside room. next Cruise gave me $150 OBC! That might not be a big deal to some of you, but I was very excited and I booked it! Just wanted to let you all know. Oh, and Next Cruise was VERY busy all week every time I passed through the Royal Promenade!
