  1. Thanks to all for your replies. Guittech I will look for you- we will be the ones wearing NY Rangers gear!
  2. Hey guys, another question- I noticed that one night they have disco dodge ball. I'm traveling with 3 kids. My middle son at 9 is a tall kid, bigger in fact than most of the friends of my 12 year old son. Based on looks alone, he would fit in. For an activity like dodge ball are they actually asking the kids for birth date or cruise card, etc?
  3. Thanks Matt! Also, any recommendations on when to pull the trigger for the drink package? We are 30 days out at this point. Is the pricing generally going to get less favorable as we get closer to the date of embarkation?
  4. Good morning. We're due to head out on 4 NOV and nearing that magical 1 month countdown. I have a question as to whether we can find out in advance about any special theme/party or dance nights they are offering on the ship. For example, is there a glow party? Is there some dance party another night? Wife is asking as she'd like to make sure that the kids have appropriate clothes etc. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  5. Reports are that the entire island is without power. Debris everywhere and infrastructure is crippled. I can't see any cruise ship being near Puerto Rico for at least the next few weeks.
  6. We had one warm day on our last cruise to Haifax. Everyone else was bundled up but I was prepared. Hardly takes up any room in the suitcase either.
  7. Thanks very much to both for your prompt responses.
  8. Good morning. Let me begin by stating that I'm an early bird. I'd rather be really early than a little late. We're due to cruise on Anthem in November and we only live an hour from the port (score). It's nice to truly be in control of your arrival and we plan on driving/parking at the garage @ Cape Liberty. I have just several questions for you: 1) We just registered for Crown and Anchor but do not have any recorded cruises as of yet. Are we considered to still have any C&A status? 2) Are C &A boarded before "civilians," even when they may have arrived before C&A. 3) What is the earliest possible time we might expect to board a ship such as Anthem? 4) We already have the major activities booked, including Northstar, Ifly, all shows and our dining reservations. I know that guest room areas aren't readily accessible as soon as you get on this ship, but have heard that other places, like a few of the restaurants and pool, are. I'd like to see if we can knock out some of the other hard to grab activities, like bumper cars, trapeze, etc. Do activities in that area of the ship tend to open up very early during the boarding process? I realize that only one activity is taking place in that area at a time. 5) For our day in Coco Cay, we booked 2 sets of the clamshells with loungers, but I'm interested in upgrading to a daybed. Day beds are not available online and it says to check onboard. Is this because online inventory is one thing, and onboard inventory is another? My question is whether we should be making a quick visit to guest services upon arrival to see about making the change? Also, as an extra bonus question- I'm open to any recommendations any of you may have regarding a beach-day in Nassau. No interest in Atlantis, Junkanoo Beach or the nearby Hilton though. Thanks so much for your time!
  9. So what do we know about Jimmy Rhodes, other than the fact that his name could easily translate to the world of Private Investigation or adult films? Looks like he'll be our guy on 4 NOV!
  10. Looks like the Bahamas won't take the direct hit that the USVI and BVI took, and like you have said, the rebound is often swift and surprising given how dependent the local economies are on tourism.
  11. Thanks, I realize that it's too early- for all we know Nassau will be slightly impacted compared to places like St. Marten. Just didn't know if in the past people have had their ports of call modified, or their routing changed entirely, because of such damage from a storm.
  12. Good morning. Our present itinerary for the Anthem on 4 NOV has us making Port Canaveral, Nassau, and Coco Cay during the 8 day cruise. My question is whether it's possible that due to damage the cruise line will seek to change our itinerary (Bermuda perhaps) or take other action in the event of significant damage at some/all of the ports of call. Looking at the damage to St. Marten now, I would be saying to myself that there is no way they would have the island "back to normal" to the point where in early Nov. they could start to accommodate guests again- there's simply too much damage, but then again, a swift rebound may surprise everyone. I know that cruise lines have lengthened/shortened cruises following a significant storm, but I can't recall any where ports of call were modified. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you!
  13. My goal is to find something out of the way of downtown Nassau where it's pretty much all inclusive throughout the day in terms of food, non-alcoholic drinks and non-motorized watersports, where snorkeling is also an option.
  14. For those who have been, have you found that on days at sea, activities like basketball, dodgeball, trapeze school, bumper cars etc warrant you arriving early just to stand on line so as to ensure that you can partake, or in the alternative, do activities, outside of flowrider, ripcord and northstar tend to be walk up?
  15. Thanks for your feedback. If anyone has recommendations on something besides Sandy Toes I"m all ears. We are a family of 5 with 3 kids, 12, 9 and 5. Very active and love to take part in activities, beach etc.
  16. Matt, thanks so much for taking the time. Very much appreciated!
  17. Hello! We are cruising on the Anthem in early November, NJ-Port Canaveral, Nassau, Coco, NJ routing. We've cruised before but not on RC. Celebrity, Princess and Norwegian. We were fortunate to locate 2 connecting balconies in July of this year, and immediately made reservations for the following: 1) Dining- flex seating in main dining room on all nights. 2) All 3 shows which are available for early booking. 3) Ripcord. 4) Northstar. 5) 2 Clamshells @ Coco. Is it worth seeing if a daybed is available instead? None were showing online but someone mentioned that you might have luck getting on on embarkation day. There are a very limited amount of activities available for early booking, including tour of ship, tour of galley with bottomless champagne, cupcake decorating etc. I have heard mention of the escape room activity, but it doesn't appear to be available for booking now. The same goes for the breakfast with the Dreamworks characters, which for the money seems like a great deal (3 kids, youngest is 5). A few questions pop off the top of my head: 1) Deck chairs on days at sea. Impossible to get? We don't need to be by the pool- upperdecks are fine. If we are hitting the deck after say 10AM is it possible to find something or are they all "claimed" at that point? Norwegian had a great system where they would "tag" chairs that were unattended for long periods of time and then remove items if nobody returned by a certain time. With 3 kids we aren't going to be worshiping the sun for hours, but it would be nice to have some place to sit and lay our stuff. 2) Any recommendations for getting a deck chair in an area which isn't always typically crowded? 3) We haven't elected to visit any specialty restaurants, and will instead target the main dining room and buffet. Should we have any concerns with regards to crowd or quality of food? Did you have to wait a while with a reservation when being seated, or was it tough to find a table during peak times in the Windjammer? 4) Someone mentioned Solarium as a nice option for breakfast at no additional charge. Any feedback? 5) Can you drop your kids for say an hour or two if there is an activity on the kids calendar that they really want to participate in? We aren't "dump and run" parents, but would like to give them the option if there's something of interest on a particular day. Only concern is having my two oldest, 12 and 9, stay together. 6) Has anyone done an airboat ride while in Port Canaveral? Kennedy Space Center seems like an expensive option and not all of my kids would be interested. Airboat and Gator park might be more to their liking. If we end up renting a car, is the local beach worth visiting? 7) Any secrets about the ship, off the beaten path or insider information would be greatly appreciated. Best part of this trip is that my kids won't know they are going until we arrive at the pier. We're telling them that we are visiting a waterpark in the Poconos instead! Thank you for your time!
  18. Good morning. We are cruising on the Anthem of the Seas in the Fall and one of our stops on our NJ originating ship is Nassau. I know about the Colonial Hilton but I've seen a bit of chatter about Sandy Toes as well. Does anyone have anything good, bad or otherwise to say about such a day-long excursion? Was it easy to get to? Worth the money? How was the beach? Quality of food and drinks? Available activities and entertainment? Thanks so much!
