Allen Hague
We are taking our first family cruise this October on Harmony of the Seas. We are a family of 4 with a 25 year old daughter that requires a wheelchair but is able to walk short distances on level ground as well as transition on and off vehicles. We have a folding wheel chair that we will bring with us unless we decide to rent one for travel convienience. This cruise is an Eastern Carribbean itinerary with stops is St. Marteen and St. Thomas. We would like to take a driving tour of St. Marteen and a trip to Magens Bay when we're at St. Thomas. Questions: 1) Are there any suggestions for wheelchair rentals? If we go this route, we will need the chair when we arrive at our hotel (InterContenental) in Miami the day before the cruise. 2) We are considering booking the St. Marteen tour outside of RCCL thinking a private tour would be more benificial to our daughters needs as well as provide more flexible scheduling. Any suggestions for tour opperators who can accomodate a family of 4 with a folding wheelchair? 3) When on St. Thomas we would like to take a taxi to and from Megans Bay. How easy is it to find a taxi that can accomadate the wheelchair? How about returning to the ship? We are very excited for our first cruise and have found this site as well as Matts podcast to be extremly helpful! Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.
