  1. I'm cruising out of Fort Lauderdale on the Independence in April.

    1) the departure flights out of FLL are not lining up to what I wanted. The noonish flights are in average $40 more per person, so that's an extra $160. The cheaper flights leave early AM or around 5pm. Is there something easily and fun to do to break up the day in FLL so we can take a later flight? Or will I be ready to pay more to get on an earlier flight?

    2) Does anyone know they best breakfast restaurants, other than the windjammer? Also, we are thinking of doing a speciality dining restaurant one night. Any recommendations?

    Thank you all.

  2. We loved Hilton Rose Hotel day pass in Falmouth!

    Thanks Matt!

BTW, this is the first cruise we are going on where we are getting airfare.  We will be cruising to from Fort Lauderdale.  What time should I be looking for return flights back home?  They have a 1, 2:15, and 3:45 afternoon flight.  Any recommendations?

  3. Good Morning!

I have a question.  My family went on the Freedom of the Seas in August.  We had the best time.  It was a 7 night cruise an cost us around $3100 (included all fees and prepaid gratuities).  It was my wife, 5 year old, 3 year old, and myself.  We stayed in an interior stateroom.

When people ask how much the cruise was, they seem to think that was an insane amount to pay.  They have cruised before and they say they pay way less than that.  We booked our cruise around 6 months out.

We now want to cruise during my spring break (I'm a high school math teacher).  In April, a 6 night cruise on the Independence costs ,with fees, around $2100.

What do you all think about this price?  Should I wait until closer to time to book, book now?

Or a more generic question is, how do you book and when?  We used a travel agent, Cruise One, to book ours.

    Thanks for any advice!

  4. Thanks bcarney.  That leads to a conversation my wife and I just had.  I was under the assumption that we would both scuba dive at one of the ports.  We are both avid scuba divers but she seems to be uncomfortable with leaving the kids while we go on an excursion.  She says we are "too far" from getting back to them if something arise.

My response, is that she's crazy :)  I think they will be perfectly fine and they will LOVE adventure ocean.

I need to find a way to persuade her...

    :)

  5. Good Afternoon!

I just found this page and have been reading it over...I've learned a lot but I do have a few questions.

My wife and I, along with our 3 and 5 year old, will be taking our first cruise on the Freedom of the Seas in August.  We are leaving Port Canaveral for a 7 night cruise and going to Cococay (I think a private island), St. Thomas and St. Maarten.

Could anyone recommend any family friend excursions that the kids would enjoy?  My wife and I will Scuba Dive at one of the ports but would like to find something fun for the kids the other days.  A BIG plus would be able to jump in some water close by.

And if you have any advice for use, we would love to hear it!

    Thanks

    Andy
