My boys passports won't be back before online check in. If I do online check in using photos of their birth certificates, do I have to bring those to the terminal, or can I bring the passports when they come in?

I'm cruising with my often grumpy, introvert teen boys in July (14&16). Was hoping to meet and greet and maybe get to know others going on the cruise. It will just be me and the boys (leaving DH at home). Looking to entertain myself, and hopefully do some bonding with my not-so-little-anymore babies.
