Wouldn't the refund I get just process and then the offer will get screwed up and taken back from amex? is there a way to get a check instead?

Hi guys, I already paid for my cruise in full (sail date May 26th) and found a promotion on my amex where I can get 25,000 points. Problem is I paid 2 months ago. Has anyone had a similar situation? Ideally I could just call them up and tell them to recharge the card so the offer triggers?
