  1. The only acceptable time within Air2Sea parameters is 11:30 am. , so they pushed me to 4:30pm Joy.
  2. Air2Sea had me booked on a flight after a cruise disembarking from Ft Lauderdale. Its now been changed to 11:05 am. Im not even sure thats within the parameters of their guidelines . I would have to hope to be one of the first to get off the ship and uber quickly to the airport. Is this too risky? Any experiences this early? thx
  3. I have repeatedly called. Maybe 12 times. There is nothing they will do until the day of flight. I have escalated this as high as I can to florida head office as well. They actually did book me a flight home and then 2 days later its cancelled. Crazy times
  4. Has anybody ever had to use this service when booking their flights with Air2Sea? You can only call them the day of your flight if the flight is cancelled or does not exist. They promise to get you on the ship and to get you home. I have a flight booked with them to San Juan Puerto Rico which I made a long time ago. It was the day of the cruise and the disembarkation day of the cruise direct flights. This is no longer the case as the flights have changed /cancelled numerous times since. I do have a confirmed flight booked the day before embarkation which I had to pay for a hotel to accommodate that. Now there is no flight coming back and I have to wait after a 2 week cruise (24 hours prior)to call the emergency task team to see how they will get me home. A tad bit disconcerting and angst one does not need while on vacation. Looking for experiences, suggestions.thx.
  5. Nov 6 - 20 Beginning in San Juan Puerto Rico, > St Thomas>st Kitts>Antigua>Barbados> St Lucia>St Maarten> San Juan Puerto Rico >REPEAT
  6. I do this occasionally if the cuisine is unique and mouth watering. Otherwise my mind says " there's enough food on the ship, why spend money?' I'll grab a beer or two, if its really hot and I do like the vibe of some restaurants where locals go. Especially Mexico. Cantina/Cucinas
  7. Same here. When I was young I did a few tours,,, ie zip lines, horse back, dolphins, snorkel, hike waterfalls, jeeps, jet skis, etc etc.... now I just hop on a bus, or take a taxi, and do my own thing. Cant do those ship tours with wait times, line ups, bad seat arrangements on buses, and being conned into a 2 hour or more road trip...nope. After awhile everything looks the same, especially shopping. Nothing original anymore. Straw markets galore, trinkets and t-shirts...I must say Holy land tours fascinate me and would go back
  8. That's common sense for you. Thx. We did Jerusalem 10 days and most of it was bus/walking tours every single day. Enjoyable, but exhausting.
  9. I dont smoke, my wife does. So bigger casinos are better that have extended non smoking areas,,better filtration, more machines, easier to move around. I cant stand small clustered cruise casinos, with uncomfortable seats, and everybody bumping into you and people on scooters who are navigating all around like they own the place.
  10. room service coffee ....not a fan. Not very hot, not very strong.
  11. You can ask of course. One room attendant minimized my capsules as they were limited. Paying extra for a GS and not getting coffee? The next day I simply reached into his trolly and grabbed a bunch...lol. Call me a thief,,,, go ahead. Yes the them to pass on the decaf. I go through 6 a day.
  12. Good point. But I am trying to avoid this and the extra costs involved, further, being Canadian , we have no access to at home kits that are valid. So to take a test, I have to call a medical centre make an appt and pay $40 or more per test. Embarkation is Puerto Rico, which requires no testing.
  13. Im curious as to how experienced cruisers go about their week which includes a stop every single day? Can you overdo it? Too many excursions? Too much walking? Too much shopping of the same old? Not enough beach time? "Should have stayed on the ship"? Ive got a back to back out of Puerto Rico in a few weeks Stops in St thomas, St Croix. St Maarten, st lucia,Barbados,st Kitts and Antigua. I like beaches, so I might just check out the beaches the first week, and do some sight seeing the next.
  14. Up-to-date: to be considered up-to-date, guests must have received all doses in their vaccine series within 270 days (9 months) of our sail date or received a booster. Guests who've received a booster are considered up-to-date no matter how much time has passed. ?????
  15. So what if its been more than 9 months after my second dose? Are they going to scrutinize the dates for everybody? is this what it means to be fully vax now?
  16. well its been more than 9 months for me, after my second dose, so I require a booster? Not so sure on that. Then I would require a antigen test? hmmmm
  17. I think this is all about personal taste and the bartender and what is available to make that Bloody Mary. Im from Canada, so what is popular here is called a Bloody Caesar. Instead of plain tomato juice or bloody mary mix , Clamato juice is used instead ( a mixture of clam juice , tomato juice and spices.) I would always insist on your choice of premium vodka (mine being Belvedere ) and then personalize it the way you like ie worcestershire sauce, horse radish, salt, pepper, hot sauce, celery, cold cuts etc. Then ask for either plain tomato or use their blend of bloody mary mix. I usually have at least 2 of these drinks in one week. I always ask the bartender how he makes different styles of drinks. Some are very creative on board.
  18. Its obvious that Royal's choice for coffee on all their ships is the "Lavazza" commercial coffee brand from Italy. Lavazza make different blends and quality. Does anybody have any insight as to what grades are actually served and available onboard? In my suite we get the Lavazza machine with 4 capsules of coffee...2 decaf ,2 regular. Then there is the coffee served in the promenade, the MDR, Windjammer and room service (for those with no machine) . Then there is the specialty restaurants , and I have no idea what they serve. If I order a specialty coffee in MDR , what am I really getting? expresso beans? It would be interesting to know what kind of contract Lavazza has with Royal and how long. Imagine how many cups of coffee are served on an Oasis class ship daily!, its mind boggling. Does anybody feel its time to switch it up? And what would be your brand of choice? Who's a coffee snob? (of course there is Starbucks, that you must pay for.)
  19. Yup, and I mostly do JS. No problem here, but a little echoey on the balcony and you will feel more motion. Best deal on suites on the ship. Have fun.
  20. Its time for me to check in. One of the first questions regarding health. " Have you had your booster shot"? Why are they asking this question? I have only had 2 shots., and not doing anymore. Will answering NO prevent me from boarding?
  21. Yes, and they won't put me on a Air Canada Flight as it is not in the cost parameters. So they have me booked one day after disembarkation and I must stay at a hotel. I have requested they pay for the hotel. Lets see....
  22. There is the Pan American port and the cruise port of call in Old San Juan. Trying to determine which port Royal will use now, and which hotel is closest to that particular cruise port. Closer to Airport vs closer to embarkation port? Taking into account taxi fares, free shuttle service if any . Would prefer walking distance to port, but I dont think there is one. Embassy suites is one mile from Airport. Sheraton hotel and casino Old San Juan, Hyatt House, El Convento, appreciate any advise, thx
  23. Oasis class ships would be the best for you IMO. Bigger is simply better. More stuff, more things to do. Promenade dark?... no. I have never sensed a feeling of darkness on the promenade. They are bright and cheery and festive. Watch videos on Youtube. Save your money and dont book the key. (no real good reviews) and put that money towards excursions or extras at Coco Cay. Get the biggest balcony room you can afford. Suites are not necessary for a first time experience . Reserve Main dining room at your desired time and avoid "my time" you may experience long line ups that way.
  24. yup, get it, Im not fully versed with all acronyms .thx
