  1. A corkage fee is applicable now, reintroduced around June 2017. I was told by my waiter on the Brilliance in April 2018 that it was 25 dollars, however, I raised the issue forcefully with the head waiter and no charge was made. You can’t avoid the corkage fee by taking your own cork! If you drink your own wine outside your stateroom the corkage fee applies in principle. It’s a deterrent to taking your 2 bottle wine allowance out of your room. It’s got nothing to do with having a corking device, it’s just a term. To avoid the hassle you can take your wine into public areas, for your evening meal for example, by pouring it into a glass first and leaving the bottle in your room, a pain I know, but it’s a choice. To be honest, the altercation I had with the dining room staff and loyalty office on the Brilliance pissed me right off, I felt mad for days. So sad that Royal have to antagonise their loyal customers ( I am Diamond Plus ) for a few dollars more.
