I love cruising, been on a dozen+ cruises and out of all of the ports I've been to, Jamaica/Falmouth would be one where I'd stay on the ship. I typically never pass up visiting a port - but done excursions there from Falmouth, walked to the guarded mall... just isn't something that I'd like to experience again.

Hubby and I had some time to fill after disembarking in FLL before our evening flight a week ago. I had pre-arranged a trip to take an airboat ride through the Everglades. Absolutely a highlight of our trip! Lots of companies out there, so let me know if you want a recommendation. LOVED our airboat driver - think they were rated #1 on TripAdvisor. Easy to rent a car at Alamo right at the Port - was pretty cheap! Think was about $40 per day, so we could travel around the area as we prefer. Although, our flight wasn't until 7pm, so we had more time on our hands.

Agree with DocLC. Just finished an Eastern Caribbean cruise on Celebrity from Port Everglades. We stayed at the Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale Airport and Cruise Pier the night before - as everything else was sold out or crazy expensive! The hotel offers a free shuttle from the FLL airport - Nygel was a great driver! Close by to Hollywood Beach - if you want to head to Margaritaville for dinner. Also a free breakfast at the hotel.
The hotel did have a paid shuttle to the pier - $12 per person - which ends up being a bit more than Uber for 2 people. Plus, I always prefer to take an Uber to the cruise pier. The last thing I want to do on the start of a vacation is wait for a busload of people leaving from my hotel to the cruise pier, and then their mad rush to check in. With Uber, you can leave whenever you want and get a relaxed start to your cruise!
Ft Lauderdale - things to do near airport?

Sure! It's airboatridesfortlauderdale.com. Owner/captain Wayne Gilbert. They get great reviews on Trip Advisor, too! Smaller group size on an actual airboat.
