If you're looking for a nice beach day in St. Maarten and not that far from the pier, I highly recommend the Holland House Hotel. Great staff, food, and location just a short walk from the water taxi at the boardwalk
I'm going to google this! We are doing a horse back riding excursion but might have time to spend on the beach after that and I'm wondering about prices!

To me, San Juan starts with a walking tour of Old San Juan. You can do it on your own, and there is a ton of history there. Again, to me, the best way to start that tour is to walk around the south side of the wall and enter through the original city gate. From the gate, it's straight up the hill two blocks to the San Juan Cathedral and the tomb of Ponce De Leon. The church is open all day. You can just walk in so long as you do so respectfully. Once you leave there turn right and head up the hill to an incredible 16th century old fort (El Morro). A romantic thing for couples to do is to fly a kite on the grounds of El Morro. Have lunch. Ice Cream at Ben and Jerry's. Shopping. It's all there.
Thanks for the specific tips! Saving this!

Wow! Never knew this! Thanks for the tip!

Walkie Talkies haven't worked for us on ships in the past. We have young teens and ended up getting the wifi package so we could text each other.

Captain Bob tours in St. Maarten is great!

We did Captain Bob in St. Maarten and it was amazing! I would highly recommend it!

Has anybody been to El Yunque since the hurricanes?

We loved Blue Hole! One the most memorable excursions ever!
-
We did the one at Chankanaab and it was GREAT! Check and see if it is there!

Swim with the dolphins at Chankanaab! Great excursion!

I was just looking into excursions in San Juan for a March 2018 cruise. I'll be following this thread...let me know what you decide to do instead.

We did the swim with the dolphin experience in Chankanaab. I think it was the "royal" experience or something like that! It was DEFINITELY worth the money! It exceeded our expectations. The kids got plenty of time with the dolphins and manatees. I would highly recommend it. Don't pay full price for the CD of pictures- you can definitely talk them down in price.

Thanks to both of you!

So if you purchase a beverage package they give you a mug to use all week?
So I shouldn't pack a mug from home?
How big is the mug they give you? My husband drinks a ton of pop and he'd hate it if it was a little 12 oz cup.

I just made MTD reservations for cruise end of March...and disappointingly found slim pickings for time slots. Personally, I'm not interested in specialty dining as I can eat at those restaurants at home and not willing to pay premium for dining that is generally included in price of cruise. That being said - for those that have done MTD - I've read mixed about needing reservations vs showing up. Seems 6-8:30 is prime dining time and those time slots were practically gone (2-1/2 months before cruise). Granted it's Spring Break on such a big ship (Allure), but I was still surprised. Do you think those time slots are really gone, or are they held back by the cruise ship to accommodate people wanting to make reservations on the ship? Is it possible to switch times to accommodate our schedule better?
I might be on the same sailing as Kirby and having the same problem.
We have small kids and the only times available on MTD are like 845 pm!
I took them because it was all that was available.
What are the chance we could just walk into the dining room every night at 530 and eat then?

Is there a freestyle machine on the Allure?
Another question-trying to decide if I should get my kids a pop package. If you do NOT have a pop package is there pop served at dinner free of charge?
