Marc Ray's Trip Report

Ship:
Oasis of the Seas
Duration:
7 day
Cabin:
12320

The ship itself, very easy on and off process. Haiti was much nicer that I expected for the day at the beach although I could have done with the artisan village as they locals are more than pushy, last think I wanted on vacation

What was your motivation to take a cruise?:
To get away and explore the new ship!! destinations we had been to previously with exception to Haiti
What was a highlight of your cruise?:
again the ship Dicovered most people did not know of the balcony 9 smoking area) located in the rear of the ship . Extended balcony for our private use for the most part which overlooked the water show. Better place to watch the show without the hassle of making reservations.
What did you dislike about your cruise?:
Surprisingly our waiter staff appeared very ineffeicent miss drink orders and actuaclly had no idea as to where our table was located the first night. Table 313 which disappointedly resulted in being located in side room with kitchen entry. Side room for dinner , with maybe 15 other people total (2 others at our table). Never met or spoke with our head waiter, yet he did get rewarded at the end of the cruise. Table location prevented any interaction within the main dinning room !!!! Booked trip well in advance so location should not been an issue. Also did not see / meet the head wine master, nor was I offered a wine package for dinner, only if I opted as I walked aboard or pre regisister. Never was appraoched if i cared for alcoholic drink at dinner, but had to ask, only to not have delivered and have the seapass returned. Windjammer was nice but staff continued to ask people to leave as not enough room for people to sit and eat a relaxing breakfast. Went on the VACATion to get away from this attitude , not to be hastled about. Appears to dinner process seemed to take on the attitde as with th airlines... food was okay but if you wanted something different there would be a additional charge for the food or location. All prevous cruises one would get / offered appetizers while enjoying a bottle of Champagne in the champagne bar so appeared the cruise line was now cutting corners to save $$.
Did you do any excursions?:
Passion island cruise beach day, very nice experience
How was your cabin?:
excellent, attendent was very very good
How was the food on the ship?:
fair to good. again appeared to cut corners with the menu. Breakfast menu in the dinning room was limited at best. You caould ask for something special ( eggs benedict) which was available but again you had to ask. Prior menus on past cruises were much more elaborate. Room servic ewas also very good, may have actually been the better option for food and service. Johnny Rockets for breakfast was very good also for breakfast
Would you cruise again on this ship?:
Yes
