Casino Free play

I just saw on my Cruise Planner that there is a casino free play.  This is at three tiers.  Tier one is buy $500 in casino free play chips and get a $25 bonus and a $5 scratch off ticket.  Tier two is buy a $1000 casino free play and get $75 bonus and a $10 scratch off ticket.  Tier three is buy $2000 in casino free play and get a $200 bonus and a $20 scratch off ticket.  Has anyone gotten these?  And are they worth it if you are going to gamble.

They also have three tiers for the slots but and they run about on the same lines.

First time I've looked at this. I played a little on our first cruise and have what may be obvious questions. Here are the details in the planner:

Limit one denomination per Offer, Offer limit up to $2,000 value per person. Offer must be redeemed at Casino cage during casino open hours by the guest who purchased Offer. Redemption is the responsibility of the guest; value of Offer expires at the end of the cruise. For table play, promotional chips will be issued all at once; promotional chips must be played through and are not redeemable for cash. No contra betting permitted on Roulette or Baccarat. Promotional chips must be used by the SeaPass holder who purchased Offer. Chip denominations are subject to availability. Guest must present SeaPass at table play for Casino recording.

If I bet $25 on a hand of blackjack and lose, obviously I lose the chips. If I win, do I retain the $25  in promotion chips and get $25 in real chips? Or do they take the $25 promotional and give me $50 in real chips?

Are the chips transferable across ships? So if I buy $2,000 in chips for December cruise on Brilliance, can I use the chips on Enchantment in March and/or Anthem in July? I'm assuming "No" since "offer expires at the end fo the cruise".

$2,000 nets $200 in extra chips and 4,000 reward points on RCCL credit card (equates to $40 in OBC) and the $20 scratch off....

I also see this in the fine print: "must be used by the final night of the cruise."  Sounds like you can't use the chips on a future cruise.

As long as you would play through that amount of chips anyway and as long as a winning hand is paid by taking your promotional chips and paying the full amount in real chips why not?

They do not replace your promo chips with real ones, ever. Only your winnings are paid in real chips. The ONLY way to get rid of the promo chips is to lose them. They are not very up front with this rule, even when directly asked. Only buy these chips if you plan to eventually lose that amount in bets over the course of the cruise.

This is a sucker promo. Take cash! The way I understand it is you will receive the $25.00 from winning the bet and keep the promo chip when you are playing the table games  I am not sure about slot play. They don't pay you $50.00 and take the promo chip . Regardless of which package you purchase the entire amount is promo not just the bonus. Even if you double up you will still be stuck going home with "ONLY" your original investment and your promo chips that are nothing more than a souvenir, or bet them all on the last day. Not good!

@Zealot @flacplnj

Is your option based on an actual on-board experience or discussion with Club Royale ? Or it is just "the way you understand it" ?

According to my email exchange with Club Royale they should replace promo chips from your winning hand with real chips but  I'm looking for confirmation from people who are actually used that promotion while on-board

Besides, if I play 3-5 hours a day on 7 day cruise and win every hand I wouldn't care about stupid 2k in leftover promo chips ?

This is the correct answer.  No Riskit, No Biscuit.

I can tell you from experience, they will NOT replace your promo chip with a real chip on a winning hand.  Which appears to be different than what you are being told pre-sailing...and is also different than what I was told pre-sailing.  I know it is a new program and expect there to be hiccups....but its been several weeks now so to hear that they are still giving incorrect  info upfront is troubling.

I did this on our last cruise back in January 2019 and it is worth it. Think about it this way. I got 7.5% advantage on my initial buy-in to go up against the house with. I bought the $1000 and got 1075 in promo chips. I got them to give me a clear chip tray and $200 in $5 chips $100 in $1 chips and the rest in $25 chips. As I played, I would pull back every real chip to the tray and kept coloring up as it filled up with payoffs. It took me 2 good nights of play on a $10 blackjack table to finally burn through the chips. At the end of the trip, I was up around $300 after tipping etc. We are going back this November and I plan on doing the $2000 option so it will give me a 10% advantage which is 2200 in promo chips. As long as you are disiplined and only play with the promo chips, it lowers the house edge % wise for you. Hope this helps.

"Free plays" have no value only work out when they're free.  If you're paying for them you've just committed to a loss and starting you're trip chasing a loss.  The bonus doesn't make it any better.  If you play enough the casino will apply the points you earn during the trip as a credit on your folio.

When I have played in the past with promo chips and won a hand they don't touch the promo chips only put down my winnings next to them. They only touch your promo chips when you lose. I then take the real chips and put them away and keep playing with the promo chips until they are all gone.
