lovecruising!!!
I have a cruise next May out of Port Everglades. I initially booked the Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Marina, but recently I was comparing Air Bnb. I am posting this topic to see how everyone feels about staying in an Air bnb vs a Hotel. I have never stayed at the Hilton Ft. Lauerdale Marina, but it's very close to the marina, and the cruise ships. Also on Air Bnb you don't have House Keeping, and most of the time the bathroom is shared with others, just explaining for those that might not know. I usually stay in Hotels when I travel, but curious how others feel about this. Thanks in advance
Matt
I think it depends on what you want out of the experience. Since we have kids, AirBnB is nice because it can get us multiple rooms instead of cramming into a hotel room. lovecruising!!!
monorailmedic
I've actually not used AirBnB (nothing against them though) but from what I recall don't many places require a mutli-night stay? I know some extend their cruise by a bit, but it seems many just stay the night before. There are many hotels in the FLL area that are a lot cheaper than those popular with cruisers. While I'm local, when I see those rates I usually think that I'd opt for a place 5-10 miles away for what is sometimes half the price. Oliver
Just now, monorailmedic said: I've actually not used AirBnB (nothing against them though) but from what I recall don't many places require a mutli-night stay? That depends on many factors like location, time of year, and availability. Yes there are times I haven’t been able to book something because the require a multi day stay. But I always check AirBnB and compare it to the going hotel rates. There are some great properties out there that can really save you some money. My sister is going to Israel in Jan for example, and hotels there are very expensive. She saved a lot of money via AirBnB. lovecruising!!! and monorailmedic
lovecruising!!!
I decided to do AirBnb for my pre-cruise stay. My last cruise was out of Boston, and I stayed at what I "THOUGHT" was a nice Hotel. I upgraded for a suite, and I was very disappointed. Even the bed was spring mattress, and very uncomfortable at that ! I haven't seen a spring mattress since the 90s ! After this I vowed to try AirBNB more, at least be more open to it. Thanks Everyone for your help
