Quick coffee question

Hello!

We're about to sail on our first Royal Caribbean Cruise in the Mediterranean. I noticed there was an option to purchase a coffee card, which is separate from the other drink package options. My quick (and important! ?) question: is regular ol' drip coffee complimentary? I wasn't sure if the coffee card was for all coffee purchases or just the fancy/specialty variety. I need my coffee! ?

Many thanks!

I'm not a coffee snob but I do like a good cup of coffee. That being said, the ship coffee is OK at best. If you like a decent cup of coffee, you might want to spring for the coffee card.

I second this. The complimentary ship coffee is only so-so; I could drink the stuff when it was freshly poured, but once it went lukewarm it was only barely drinkable, and I'd often as not just leave it.

Plus, it's not very strong. Maybe I'm too used to the Starbucks at this point, but I only drink their mildest blonde roast and even that has more caffeine than the ship stuff.

We’ve just done the med cruise and went for the beverage package when it was on offer just over £15 per person per day, it covered all specialty coffee’s, hot chocolate, soda’s (we asked for cans as the soda machine was always flat) fresh squeezed orange juice at breakfast (you have to ask for it) and any mock cocktail and bottles of still or sparkling water so it was worth the money.  We found the free coffee to be quite bitter as we prefer latte’s.  We went for this package as don’t really drink alcohol so we found it good value for money.

The second thing I do when I get up in the morning is call room service and order a large pot of coffee for 2  According to how early you get up how fast the coffee arrives.  I m a fairly early riser so it took about 15 min.   It is complimentary but I usually tip from $3 to $5.

Is canned soda included in the deluxe drink package?  Not a fan of fountain soda as I too find it flat and syrupy.  Cans would be lovely!  Diet Ginger Ale?

No.  The package is for fountain drinks...HOWEVER, I am a Coke snob and I hate fountain cokes (same objections that you have).  I have had a few "issues" where the attendant balks at giving me a canned coke (most notably at the WJ on Liberty 2 weeks ago) but 100% of the times I have insisted, I was able to get a can when I asked.  I am always able to get a canned coke in the casino and in the Diamond or Suites lounge.  They will tell you that the package only includes fountain drinks but will eventually concede if you insist.

Now if your ship has Starbucks  on it the card and drink packages don`t cover Starbucks.

This is true, though AFAIK only Oasis ships and maybe Adventure / Mariner have a true Starbucks kiosk in addition to the regular Cafe Promenade-type venue. Good news is that on the ships with a "real" kiosk, you can use your Starbucks card if you have one. Not entirely sure if you can also redeem rewards at these kiosks for the free item after 125 stars, others who are fellow SBUX junkies and sailed on one of these ships can confirm.

Does Allure have different coffee Strengths for the Comp COffee? I believe I  remember seeing Light, medium, and Dark Roast coffee on Serenade, and I was wondering if Allure was like that. I know Allure has StarBucks, but I was interested in the regular coffee, Although I do have a  Non Alcoholic Beverage Package I realize that doesn't include StarBucks though.  Thanks in Advance.
