twangster
There are so many sales these days I can see how people get confused. 50% off second guest based on the elusive "regular" price not off the last sale price that folks likely booked when they did. I guess this means I need to reprice all my cruises - just in case. Expectations set accordingly. Baked Alaska

RBRSKI
I have voiced my frustration on the so called sales that RCCL publishes every minute of the day. It truly is for the people that have no clue which I feel bad for! Don't get me wrong, RCCL does have some great deals on cruises but it's only the ones that they are having a hard time filling. Yes, I also get they are a business trying to make money so they will prey on those who do not do their homework! VACruiser
As long as they still make a hefty profit they don't have to put in deep sales and as far as I can tell they don't have issues selling cabins. They do the sales to let people think they are getting a bargain; no different than what malls and car dealerships do on a routine basis. As a consumer we are always looking for the deal, and as long as we feel we got a deal, we feel good and companies go on making us feel good with sales advertising. It's win-win for the consumer to big business dynamic. How many people go on a RC cruise even know about this site to get information? I did only because I am a researcher and have to always look for "the deal." There is a wealth of knowledge in these pages but only a select set of people will ever run across this blog to get a detailed understanding of the "inner RC." KJ1231
Tried to see if it was worth upgrading to a JS (from spacious balcony). According to MEI Casino wanted an additional $356 for a 3-nighter on Enchantment. She was going to try again today since the price difference on the site is less than $100 per person. BeatArmy2010
I'm disappointed. A cruise I was looking at went up in price, along with airfare. Baked Alaska
I'm sorry that happened. Usually, the cruise fare will be cheapest (for you) when you book it, except when the price goes down (but not usually).

Biff215
Honest question...so if these sales aren’t typically worth it, when and where is the best time to book? We usually either get lucky and find a price we’re happy with or make a late decision and just live with it. Our dates usually aren’t very flexible which doesn’t help. FionaMG
6 hours ago, Biff215 said: Honest question...so if these sales aren’t typically worth it, when and where is the best time to book? The best time to book is when you see a price you're comfortable with and this applies both to booking the actual cruise and booking cruise planner items. For cruise planner purchases, it is definitely worth checking the prices on a daily basis and being aware of the prices of the items you're interested in because some real sales do crop up from time to time, offering genuine savings. When this happens you can cancel your previous purchases without penalty and re-book at the lower price, with the caveat that you have to pay for them a second time and wait a few days for your refund to be returned to your account. The exception to this is if you paid using OBC from Royal, in which case you see that returned to your cruise planner the second you cancel the first booking. For your cruise fare, if you're booking under US rules, you can sometimes get it re-priced to reflect a sale price but it can be a tricky process that is probably easier to navigate with the help of a well-qualified travel agent. Note that if you're booking from somewhere other than the US (UK, EU, etc), you're likely stuck with the original cruise fare you paid unless you are prepared to lose your deposit. In some cases, the difference in price actually makes this a cost-effective option! Skid and Biff215 1

Jill
It’s been my experience that if you are Emerald or higher, your Crown and Anchor discount is better than the sale prices. That happened on our last Emerald cruise and when we booked our first Diamond. Anyone else experience this? Re: drink package. The best sale I’ve ever seen is a 30% off. Usually either with Black Friday or their WOW sale. It appears the standard “sales” are 20% off (which is usually available all the time), Buy one, get one 50% off (basically 25% off each package) and the once in a blue moon 30% off.
