Cruises won in the casino

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever won a cruise from the casino?  I see if you  if get something like 2475 points  on slots you get a cruise.   What can you win and what does one have to accomplish besides a lot of money spent. Thank you. Just curious.   And what about the poker tournaments?   Last 2 cruises we were on they did not have enough people signed up to play in the poker tournament. Nor was the casino that crowded.

I am not a pro on the casino..I never got enough for more than a cpl t-shirts or key chains. I couldn't imagine what you would have to spend to make it on those points.

I have seen people given "free" cruises or been invited to be a apart of the casino club based on who knows what. In one case I knew them personally and they didn't spend much..less than me...BUT then kept winning big and playing big for long periods of time.

IMHO..its a crap shoot when it comes to that stuff with Royal...much like their website and their "sale" pricing and promos......its really really hard to figure out.

The "free" cruise resulting from accumulated points (and subsequent Tier Level placement) is new so I doubt that anyone has yet experienced how that is going to work.  According to what I have HEARD (but no experience with it yet) is that the Prime Levels will (accumulated points between 2500-24,999) get 1 inside free cruise per year.  Who knows how it's going to work.

Regarding the "free" cruise from the poker tournament, Dan won this WAAAY back in 2009 (the Royal Poker Tour finals were on Liberty that year).  We were given a complimentary oceanview as I recall and we upgraded it to a balcony for a small upcharge (I can't remember that far back but I think this is how it went).  It was fairly straightforward.  The RPT finals are usually the first or second week in December.  In addition to the upcharge (which we would not have HAD to pay, if we'd have stuck with the OV cabin), we were charged taxes and port fees but that's it.

Thank you.  We were on Rhapsody in Feb. and the casino was hardly ever crowded.  There were not even enough  people signed up for the poker tournament.

It's very hit-and-miss whether you will have a poker crowd or not.  I have been on cruises where there were hardly enough people to have a cash game a couple of nights and we were on one cruise a number of years ago (a TransAtlantic) where we played twice every day (a game in the afternoon and then another one again at night) and there was a page-long waiting list.  You just never know until you get on.  One good thing....I think they have FINALLY gotten rid of all of the poker machines !  We were on the last cruise that they used them on Allure.  When we disembarked they replaced those machines (which were ALWAYS broken)  with live dealers.  YIPPEE !!!

Received the free cruise offer in the mail last week but only for selected remaining 2018 itineraries.

Are those things transferrable or able to sell them like an airline ticket or something? If so, be a way to make some $$ off it if none of the 2018 itineraries appeal to you.....

I've never checked but I feel CERTAIN that they are not transferable.

We were recently on the Grandeur of the Seas out of Baltimore..My casino points at the end of the cruise were around 4100....I qualified for an outside room on a future cruise..

There were various selections..mostly 3 or 4 days cruises..Or I could get a $750 discount on a future cruise
