annabede17
Hi all, I'm desperate to see the swimming pigs in the Exumas but that is not a shore excursion formally offered by any cruises. I've found lots of day trips from Nassau but they all leave at 8am. There is one company that departs at 9am but they won't wait for me or give me a refund if I am running late. For anyone familiar with the docking/disembarkation process in Nassau- if the boat (Mariner of the Seas) is scheduled to be in port from 8am to midnight, how soon can I reasonably expect to get off it after it arrives? The tour operates out of Paradise Ferry Terminal, which is either a 30 min walk or ten minute drive from the cruise ship pier. Are the streets too crazy to try to get anywhere in a car in a hurry when the ship is offloading? Thanks!
monctonguy
Nassau can be quite busy and hetic as usually there are 3-5 cruise ships in port at the same time. That being said, there always seem to be lots of taxi's available if you want to go somewhere. But yes, with a 8am docking you would be cutting it close. Let me know how it goes if your able to make it work as this was something I was looking at doing the next time I am in Nassau(Oct) but sounds like based on your information it probably isn't feasible. Orange Crush
Honestly, if a private tour operator won't wait for you or give you a refund if the ship runs late (which DOES happen and is totally outside of your control), then they don't deserve your business and you shouldn't book with them, in my opinion. mbk999

The Paradise Island Ferry Terminal would be a LONG walk though the 10 minute drive time is probably ly about right. You can also take a water taxi but they operate on less of a schedule. Exactly what I thought when I read this, that's not a company I would use.
annabede17
I understand what you are saying, but I get their point too- the rest of the group that booked and arrived on time shouldn't have to miss part of their tour because I'm late, and almost nowhere gives you a refund if you cancel less than 24 hours in advance, let alone one hour. I'm just surprised that no one does "pigs-only" tours that start a little later and skip all the other activities. ellcee
