RBRSKI
So we are doing a one way from FLL to SJU on the Freedom 5/6/18. Our flight isn't until 6pm. Has anyone recently done a day pass to any of the hotels near the beach or airport?

In 2015, I stayed a day before and a day after, so I already had a hotel, but I just looked here "resortforaday.com" and interestingly enough the only place they have listed is a Marriott, which is where I stayed in 2015. It a really nice hotel and has a nice beach.

Matt
I don't see why this would be a logistical problem. The key is to manage your time so you get to the airport on time, but otherwise this should work. The other issue you should consider is if you're swimming all day, you may want to shower prior to going to sit on a plane. There may be showers available at the resort you're considering, but just something to think about.

MKSglitz
We stayed at the Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino this past March and they do have a outside fresh water shower to rinse off the sea salt It is located to the left of the stairs leading to the beach area. Very, very nice beach. There is also a nice restroom just past the restaurant off the pool area to change your clothes.

Thank You for the information, it has made us feel better with our decision to just stay the day. Question, our flight leaves SJU at 6pm, what time should we leave the resort? Should we Uber or Taxi it over to the airport? Do we go thru customs in SJU?

I'm trying to remember, there wasn't customs, but there was some type of special "Agriculture" scan that your bags had to go through before going to the ticket counter, they then got some type of sticker that told the ticket agents that it was done. I bring this up because I did this backwards, I went to ticket counter first, then had to leave go wait in line and get the sticker and then back to the ticket counter to finish. I was told they only do this in 2 places in the US territories, Puerto Rico and Hawaii. I'm sure probably more but that was what I was told. I took a taxi from the same hotel and it seemed reasonable and didn't take very long.
MKSglitz
The doorman at the Marriott can hail a taxi for you. The taxis are waiting in Marriott's the parking structure so you'll get one immediately. You'll go through customs when you disembark from the ship. And to save yourself some time, immediately upon entering the airport, go thru the agricultural scan where your luggage will get an all clear sticker. Then go check in at the ticket counter with your luggage. Here's an interesting point, once you clear TSA, there are many stores in the concourse where you can buy duty free liquor (as much as you'd like) and carry it directly onto the plane as long as you remain on the same airlines should a connection be necessary

RBRSKI
So I have an update with my experience with Resort for the Day in San Juan. We took a short by expensive cab ride from the port to the Marriott (hint:use uber or lyft much cheaper, took uber to airport from hotel only 8 bucks vs 20 for cab). Check in at the front desk was efficient and the staff was very friendly. We were Issued two wrist bands and two 20 vouchers for lunch. Since the weather was crappy, we decided to stay by the pool, good thing, because during our 5 hours there, we had about 7 down pours, oh well, can't control mother nature. We had access to lounge chairs and towels either at the pool or beach. We had lunch pool side and food was great, only had to pay 5 additional dollars. Would I recommend, Yes. bellemiche and Bob_KY
