Skid
I thought I'd share this here for those who may not have seen Matt's blog from March 14. Very ambitious program to say the least. What stood out to me, since we are sailing Adventure soon, is that she just completed a refurb and is now scheduled to go again in 2021. Lovetocruise2002
Typically a ship undergoes refurb every 5 years but the Adventure one is intersting..... This is why I am excited for my Oasis 2020 sailing. Not wanting to sail the shorter sailings on Mariner (and worried that it might be more of a party ship atmosphere) and it's been a long time since I sailed Oasis, I'm really interested to see how they change that ship in 2019. I booked that sailing for that very purpose because I expect some big changes for that ship and it's Oasis class (which I love). And I grabbed it now before they announce their plans in case they decide to sky rocket their prices afterwards. Skid

Although doing that would probably save me money, I just can't bring myself to plan things 2+ years out. And that thinking may cost me even more if they ever do away with refundable deposits. WAAAYTOOO
I used to do this...book out as far in the future as possible, but now with the suites being all non-refundable, I can no longer do that. Also, changes in the rules for casino prices have forced me to make more short-term plans. We'll have to see if it works out or not. I know it has definitely caused me to cut back on the number of cruises I take.
Boston Babe
I find it interesting that Lady G isn't even listed. She has such a great reputation with repeat cruisers @WAAAYTOOO and @coneyraven will tell you. My first sailing on her 45 days.
WAAAYTOOO
In fact, none of the radiance class (except for Brilliance) or Vision class are on there. Maybe it's the category of refurb that they've listed. Some are major dry docks and some are minor refurbs.

Often, I book a refundable rate but with TA incentives it makes it sightly better than the NRD rate. In all my cruising history, since 2002, I have only cancelled twice. And the reason was that both of those were Plan B cruises. If I book, I intend to keep it. The Oasis 2020 booking was a bit of a stretch. I'll be honest, I did not book the refundable with that one. There was a certain room I wanted and I knew if I didn't grab it now, it would not be there a year or so from now. So with that I am taking a gamble. With all the revitalization plans, my gut tells me that prices are going to rise and Oasis March 2020 is sitting at really good rates right now. That and I am really interested see Oasis after her makeover. Last time I sailed her was 2009. If anything, I will lose $300 instead of $400 (I only booked one daughter to secure the 3rd person rate). 4 minutes ago, Boston Babe said: I find it interesting that Lady G isn't even listed. Our last day on Anthem we met a couple who have been cruising RC for years. The are somewhere near Boston and we started talking about how we did/did not enjoy the cruise. They said they would never sail Anthem again and I began asking what other ships they've been on. To make a long story short, they have pretty much sailed all the classes, multiple times (although it was their first on Quantum class) and one of their favourites is Lady G! They also love Oasis class..hint, hint...time to book one ?

Interesting, my cruise docs were available this morning and smack in the middle was NEXT CRUISE brochure. They are only requiring $100 deposit (probably not on suites) and up to $600 OBC. So I will have to see if summer 2020 is out when I sail May 5th! I guess it's either the bigger ships or the smaller that people like, not in between. I have a feeling summer 2020 won't come out until November.....if they keep the same time frame as last year.

LetsTryThisPlace
I wonder when Freedom will be going in for the upgrade. We are planning to go on her again March 2020 and it would be nice if she gets the upgrade just before that. I may have to play with dates and find out what dates it's not sailing. Also looking at the pdf it sounds like these are more big changes and are more of the things you expect on the bigger ships. Think of the upgrades Mariner will be getting and I'm sure similar upgrades will be going to the ships listed. Now it is not to say the others won't have anything done just not any of the "amplified" program. Quote What is the objective of Royal AmplifiedSM? Traveler
Make you think on the future of the smaller ships , Currently we can see in the plan for the next 5 years ships from Voyager class to Oasis, nothing else So for the next five years some of the small ships will pass almost 8 years from the last time they were updated . Dose it meant RCL decided to abounded anything smaller than Voyager and focus only the big ports ?

I don't think so, this list is just talking about improvements in the Amplified project. This would be separate from the regular referbs the other ships typically get. I don't think they will be getting anything big but should get some work done.
