AGSLC5
Just thought I would share a recent experience I had with Club Royale... Just so you know I have been a member since 2011 and even though they have changed dramatically its how I still book all my cruises... So I am already going on the June 29th Mariner cruise that I booked using certificates from Club Royale. My other friends said they wanted to go on the July 13th Mariner sailing and would I like to go. Well I currently don't have any certificates to use as I am also going on the July 21 Harmony sailing so I told my friends I would call Club Royale and if they can give me a decent deal I will do it. So I called this morning and asked what kind of "Casino Rate" I could get on this Mariner sailing. The man said do you have any certificates or offers you would like to use. I said no currently I don't. He then said would you mind holding so I can look into what I can do for you. I said sure and when he came back he said ok good news based on your play I can offer you a Comped Balcony room for 2 and I would only have to pay for taxes and fees. I was pleasently surprised by this as I thought maybe they would take 50% off but no fully comped. They gave me a nice room also right on the hump. Anyway the reason I am sharing this story is I strongly feel it really depends who you get on the phone when you call. If you call club Royale and you don't hear the answer you want call back and see if someone else offers you something better. I got lucky this time and got what I wanted on the first try but I think when it comes to club Royale it takes patience. I forgot to mention about my play. I play blackjack and bet $50 a hand and play around 6 hours a day. sometimes more sometimes less depends on if I am winning and for a week spend about $2,500- $3,000 which at that level is where I find you start to get some good comps. Feel free to ask me any questions. I just felt I would share a recent experience. - Stephanie Hoski, RestingBird, Rose City Cruiser and 3 others 2 2
jaullram
I keep calling until I get an answer I want too! We recently booked a 2 Bedroom Royal Family Suite for 4 of us. I called to get the casino rate (no certificates) and one person said it was going to be $6,000 (normal website price was $7400). I say no way. I call back a few days later and get a different person. He puts me on hold for a bit and comes back and says $2,500 for the four of us. He said if the other couple could prove that they gambled on land he could do better. They don't gamble at all so we paid the $2,500. I think an almost $5,000 discount off this type of suite was a big win!! Cruzinfun, AGSLC5, Hoski and 1 other
Boston Babe
So the bottom line is, you really need to spend between $2000 to $5000 per sailing to get these kinds of discounts, am I on the right track?

It's not really how much you've spent (i.e., lost), it's how much you've cumulatively bet, which is a whole different thing. If you are like the OP and bet $50 a hand at blackjack, you could bet a total of $2,500-$3,000 while only being out of pocket for $500 or $1,000 if your play is good, you have some decent luck (and all good table mates who also know proper betting strategy!), and you can manage to win a fair bit more often than you lose. On the other hand, you could be a blackjack player like me and be out of pocket for $300 in 20 minutes! Kirsten, Hoski and JPWH 1

WAAAYTOOO
Stephanie, it’s good to hear from you ! Glad to know you are still getting good results from CR ! Did you ever get your Star Class cruise ? Nice job on the comped balcony. Best we’ve ever done is comped ocean view. I totally agree that you should never accept the first answer you get if you don’t like the answer. Always try again...or better yet, let your TA haggle with them ! Well Yes, but I also WIN... so I can spend $2,000-$3,000 and walk away with $10,000... I did this on Allure last summer... They really care about Average bet and time spent in the casino... When I was on Allure last summer I was on a huge Roll... I was doing so well one night I was spending $300 a hand for hours which really helped my average bet.. That cruise I was doing so well I was spending about 10 hours a day in the casino and the pit boss was joking with me that I spend more time in the casino then him lol. So bottom line they don't care if you Win. They care how much you wager and how long you spend per day gambling Lovetocruise2002, Kirsten and Hoski

Hey Raye, I never did get that Star Class suite.. I really do still want it but since I live in Florida so close to the port I basically have been going on more cruises vs getting a nicer room. On my last several cruises the BlackJack gods have been nice to me and I have been winning. When that happens I can bet more and play for more hours and I have been walking away with the Balcony certificates. I never can use the dates on the back but I combine them with my friend and we make our own "free" cruises. My next cruise is a quick 5 nighter on Navigator on March 25. I asked today if the "new program" will be ready for my sailing but of course they couldn't confirm if it will be. I just really want to see what "tier" I fall into but I guess I still have to wait. I hope you are doing well and I'm glad you love Star class. One day I will get there...

Hoski
On the Casino Royale note, lately I've noticed that the cost to upgrade if you have a free cruise has gone way up. Wish me luck because tomorrow I'm going to try to get them to honor the difference between an interior and exterior on the website which is $50 per person. When we originally booked using the free certificate it was very high to upgrade.

It is not a matter of number of spins, it is exactly when you spin it. Each spin is a random number generated in part based on the time of the spin, so even if the next player wins, it does not mean you would have. Hoski
Wanted to share this, I wanted to upgrade our interior free cabin to at least an ocean view and initially it was way crazy expensive. Then I was playing with pricing on the RC site and the difference between interior and exterior was only $50 per person so I asked hubby to call and see if they would honor that for the upgrade. It was a no go but they did offer it at $100 per person to go to ocean view. Since the cabin was free we went ahead and paid the $200. It is the kids cabin so I could have left them in the interior but one of the kids is actually an adult and I figured if they slept in an interior they would never wake up so we spent the money. It's a shame they give you free cabins to get you on to gamble but won't give you a decent upgrade price. For the other cruise we have one interior I will wait and see if we get a Royal Up because we have 3 people in there and I don't want to pay the upgrade for 3 people. It was one that we used the $1500 off the first two people and the 3rd was expensive.

I guess someone was calculating that no matter if the gambler will be in inside or or in a really nice suite they will spent the same time/amount in the casino ... I guess we need to prove them differently. Interesting question , when you travel in SC are you spending the same amount of time playing in the Casino , less ? more ? That's a very good question. I think that because the ships where they have Star Class have so much more to do, we probably spend slightly less time in the casino when we are SC (or any other class, TBH). Since we really are not "show" people and don't enjoy trivia or The Quest or the pool, etc. on the smaller ships, there just really isn't much else for us to do EXCEPT for the casino. But on the big ships we find that we are more likely to find another activity that interests us. I think that's why we enjoyed Anthem so much on our B2B SC cruises. Even for 16 days in a row we found things we wanted to do....some of them more than once ! So I think it's fair to say that we are in the casino MORE on the smaller ships and LESS on the bigger ships. Probably not that much of a difference, really.
