What to do with Luggage - Embarkation Late Evening

First time with an Embarkation Day that has a Late Evening Departure (8:30PM).  Just a general question about luggage, where/how to be luggage free during the day.

  • What to do with luggage if we wanted to explore San Juan during the day, before Embarkation?

We do plan to travel into San Juan the day before & have a hotel, but:

  • Curious if the hotel would hold the luggage for the day, even after check-out time (assuming a fee perhaps)?
  • Could we drop it at the ship porters earlier in the day?

Thanks All!

Welcome aboard! You should be able to go to the pier and check in on your cruise ship(be sure to do the on line registration before you leave home & print out your documents),  drop your luggage off, get your sea pass card and board the ship. Have a drink, get something to eat, check out the ship then get off the ship and head into SJ. Just BE SURE your watch is on the same time as the ship, you will want to get back on board at least an hour before she leaves port. There will be a muster drill that all must attend before the ship leaves port. Also use a small back pack for passports, prescribed medicine, sun screen, etc.

The other option is to get to the ship, check in and stay on board and start your cruise vacation early. This will give you the opportunity to explore the ship and figure out where all the cool places are. In that case, pack some swim wear in your back pack or wear it from the hotel to the port. However, if you're going too be wearing a teeny weeny speedo type banana hanger (not that there's anything wrong with that), please put on  a pair of shorts over it when you're traveling to the ship and checking in.

Enjoy your cruise and feel free to ask any/many questions here!:27_sunglasses:

I had the same issue in a cruise from Hong Kong that was due to 23:59 ...

We did a checkout from the hotel we were in and left  our luggage at the hotel storage , we went to travel around the city and came back to the hotel took our luggage out and used a taxi to get to the port.

Almost any hotel will have a storage room for you , it is very common but if you want to be on the safe side you can check in there web site or just call them and ask.

Usually no extra fee is required for this service.

Yes, that would be the best strategy for holding your luggage.  The problem with dropping off luggage at the ship is it's out of the way.  With the hotel, I find it simpler.

You don't have to explain yourself, just tell bell services that you need to hold some luggage.  Provide a tip when you pick up and all is good.
