BB1 Posted April 3 Report Posted April 3 Any recommendations for a reasonable hotel in Vancouver for a night pre-cruise in September? Thanks Quote
WAAAYTOOO Posted April 3 Report Posted April 3 My only experience in Vancouver was with the Pan Pacific but it is not particularly reasonably priced...but it does make boarding your ship very VERY easy since the hotel takes your luggage down to the pier for you and you just have to go downstairs to the terminal. You don't even go outside. $$ though Cactus527 and SPS 2 Quote

KristiZ Posted April 4 Report Posted April 4 We're taking the train into Vancouver, so we're staying at an AirBnB close to the station. It was significantly less expensive than for 5 people than any hotels in that area. WAAAYTOOO and Cactus527 2 Quote
Lovetocruise2002 Posted April 4 Report Posted April 4 We are sailing out of Vancouver this July for Alaska. I knew I wanted something near the port. I checked out the Pan Pacific. Like @WAAAYTOOO said, it is most definitely convenient. Another one that is super close is the Fairmont Waterfront. In the end, we decided on the Fairmont Pacific Rim (across the street) because it's more our vibe. But I like all 3 of those properties. If you need something for a larger family, the perhaps the AirBnB option would not be bad. I did notice in my hotel search that it was hard to find hotels near the port with two bedroom suites like how you can get easily at other Florida ports. WAAAYTOOO 1 Quote
Matt Posted April 4 Report Posted April 4 I booked the Pan Pacific for our Alaska cruise this summer. It's so convenient and close enough to walk to a lot of restaurants. Lovetocruise2002, SPS and WAAAYTOOO 3 Quote
Ryan79 Posted April 8 Report Posted April 8 If you want a unique hotel that isn’t a major wallet buster look at Hotel LeSoleil. It has an amazing French restaurant (not snobby French) attached to is and is maybe a 5-10 minute walk to the port. Quote
BB1 Posted April 8 Author Report Posted April 8 I appreciate all the feedback. Prices are very high for September. I realize they could go up but I'm going to follow them for at least a month or two, then I'll lock something in. Quote
Pattycruise Posted April 11 Report Posted April 11 I stayed at the Century Plaza. They had an awesome breakfast. I like to walk and we walked down to the cruise terminal up to the park and everywhere in between I know I saw a train station along the way but we never took it. We did a hop on hop off bus that we caught down by the cruise terminal and I think one of the stops was near this hotel-go figure! i will say their laundry room sucked-my clothes came out quite soapy, had to wash them again without disco and the machine still looked soapy when the clothes went through the wash again. There are no public laundromats in Vancouver. We needed laundry because we had travelled 2 weeks and were traveling another two weeks. As for waiting to book something. If whoever you are thinking of booking with allows you to put a hold without a full payment, or are at least refundable payment you should probably do that -I don’t think prices go down in Vancouver. https://www.century-plaza.com/?utm_source=GMB&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=profile WAAAYTOOO 1 Quote

The Pan Pacific is going for $1,200 per night right now, and every time I look it's going higher. The hotels in the downtown area are insanely priced, especially for me traveling solo. What I ended up doing was exactly what @KristiZ did - booking an Airbnb that was right along the train route. The room I booked is a basement in someone's home, and it's literally a 5-minute walk from one of the stations. Not only do I save money with transportation, I also save money by not paying $400+ for a hotel room. For reference, the Airbnb I booked was around $130? Cheaper prices can be found! Very resourceful! Last Memorial Day our downtown hotel ran $470 per night for three nights. Cactus527 1 Quote

But prices for July have risen quite a bit since we grabbed our hotel back in the fall. Quote
Matt Posted April 23 Report Posted April 23 I think World Cup has messed up all the pricing this summer in that region. I'm glad I booked it early, but it's been a tough pill to swallow between hotel and airfare prices. CruiseGus 1 Quote

In one of the Serenade groups on FB, there are so many people who are on the sailings before us complaining and venting about crazy hotel prices. I am so thankful that we picked the end of July. Just missed the World Cup chaos. WAAAYTOOO 1 Quote
loki007 Posted April 27 Report Posted April 27 last summer we had a great AIRBNB close to Canada Place. Much more affordable the hotels and close to everything. Quote
