GregD Posted April 2 Author Report Posted April 2 Just got notifications that our luggage arrived in Orlando. As I’m typing this, we are about to back away from the gate here in ATL. Fingers crossed everything will be fine when we land. Lovetocruise2002, Southern Dan, SweetPea and 5 others 7 1 Quote

GregD Posted April 2 Author Report Posted April 2 We have arrived!! So I think we may have stumbled across the best luggage hack with all this. So we had the long layover in Atlanta, and got notifications that our luggage got the express treatment. When we got to Orlando, we walked to the baggage claim, the Delta office is right there as well, and as we walked up, we could see all our bags together in a nice line. No waiting for the plane to unload, no pushing and shoving around the carousel. We were in and out of the baggage area in seconds! We picked up the rental car and headed off to the hotel. GregD Posted April 2 Author Report Posted April 2 Hotel: We are staying at the Hampton Inn Coco Beach/Cape Canaveral. It's nothing fancy, just a place to crash tonight. Two queens and a sofa bed which is required because the freeloaders refuse to share. The room is a decent size and doesn't feel cramped. All the rooms have a balcony, and the view isn't terrible. We can see the ocean. Hotel Pool plenty of counter space in the bathroom. It has a tub/shower MaryS, WAAAYTOOO, Ogilthorpe and 6 others 9 Quote

GregD Posted April 3 Author Report Posted April 3 Here comes the food!! Dinner tonight we all met up and went to a place called 4th Street Fillin Station, and it was outstanding. If you are into craft beers, cocktails and good food this is the place for you. The menu is diverse and has something for everyone and the items we ordered were done well. use the link above and make sure to look at the desserts. They have inside and outside seating. Plenty of comfy chairs outside too. There was a connect 4, and lawn jenga as well. One thing to note, they do get busy, and do not take same day reservations. It was fine for us. We waited in their outdoor space, enjoyed a beer or three and had a good time just talking. You already saw the pretzel. I had Bulgogi beef street tacos. Lydia had Pulled pork street tacos. I only took a picture of mine, because tacos are tacos. @TheBoss518 and I both added a side of street corn which was really good. Heather got the Bourbon and Bacon Chicken Sammich. She said that was really tasty as well. Johnny got the Chicken Alfredo. This normally also comes with spinach, tomatoes, and micro greens but he had those withheld. He liked his as well. I tried it, and it was decent. One drawback was that we were seated inside, and it was pretty loud. We had considered getting dessert there, because those looked VERY good, but we needed to go someplace a little quieter. We ended up at a place between our two hotels. They have ice cream and mini golf. The ice cream was good. We didn't play mini golf as we were all starting to get tired. Dan and his family got here at just before 3 AM (he forgot to pay attention to the AM/PM when booking his flights)This also happens to be the time we woke up this morning to get to the airport. We are all calling it a night. We have a boarding time of 10:30, and we are pretty close to the port, so we aren't exactly going to rush, but maybe move with a purpose tomorrow morning. We parked the car, unloaded the bags from the car to the shuttle and left for the ship. At the terminal, it was super quick. They scanned our passports, and walked us to the front of the line to get on the ship….kinda felt like this as we walked past all the plots Ampurp85, Ogilthorpe, MaryS and 3 others 5 1 Quote

GregD Posted April 3 Author Report Posted April 3 Casual reminder to check your emails. Dan and Kristine own run a busy office and get roughly a thousand emails a day. They had booked a few things IE three night dining package, and the refreshment package for their daughter pre-cruise. They got the typical cruise planner messages and thought that they were all set. They went to get the soda cup for their daughter today and were told they didn’t have the package. They then went back through emails and found emails from RC with “payment failed” messages. they aren’t sure what happened because they had made other purchases with the same card later on that went through no problem. A visit to guest services was somewhat successful. The bar manager was willing to honor the refreshment package price, but they had to repurchase the dining package at a slightly higher price. The dining manager said his “hands were tied” There are other managers looking into this as well for them. PPPJJ-GCVAB, Lovetocruise2002, asquared17 and 7 others 1 1 8 Quote

GregD Posted April 3 Author Report Posted April 3 Random thoughts So far the ship doesn’t feel too crowded, but it’s still early. I’ll try to get numbers from either the concierge or the top tier event. There are definitely a bunch of freeloaders on the ship, so far I have not noticed any bad behavior. Internet speed and connection seems pretty good. These past few posts have been on the ship WiFi, on my balcony with no photo upload failures. I did the following speed test on the balcony. Still waiting for luggage. We saw I think probably the one and only genie for the ship while walking through the terminal. For funzies I had priced it out for our family and was met with a $6k price tag. Hard pass. Enough people must have booked it because a few weeks ago it disappeared from the cruise planner.
