Hey guys!! Our family of three are cruising out of Galveston Mardi Gras week February 15-21 2026.  Our son Reece is somewhat shy, but very outgoing once he is comfortable, and I am hoping to introduce him to a similar age group of kids before hand to make him comfortable meeting up with a friend on the ship.  This will Definitely help Mom and Dad out Lol!!  Any cruisers out there going at that time and date?!?!

I'm not on your cruise, but saw your post.  My only child son is 19 and we cruised with him many times.

You don't say his age.  If he is under 12 - He would be checked into Adventture Ocean (Not allowed to leave) and they are divided by age group so he would naturally meet kids there.

If he is over 12, he would be in the teen group - Stop by after boarding to sign him up.  There is a meetup the first night - Make sure you do this as a lot of groups are formed here.

The activities are all optional and the kids can come and go as they want.  My experience is that the younger teens tend to participate, while the older ones just hang out.

I always set up times for him to check in and curfew times at night and checked in by whatsapp (Texting works now if you have the internet plans).  My rule was that he had to eat dinner with us - but a few times I allowed him to eat dinner with his friends in windjammer.

He always made friends - he actually keeps in touch with many of them to this day.
