InmyElement Posted January 9 Author Report Posted January 9 10 hours ago, GatorCruiser said: I’m not sure what would possess one to be up before 7am on a cruise. Insomnia ? Help it make sense! I hear ya it sounds crazy... Pretty much echoing what everyone else said. When I’m cruising, I actually feel like I’m missing out if I don’t get up early...I’m just wired that way. Years of work had me up at 4am, and that habit never left. Even at home, I’m an early riser. Honestly, my favorite part of the day is when the ship is still asleep. No crowds, no noise...just me wandering around exploring. I thought I knew the ship pretty well… then I randomly found a hot tub on Deck 16 I’d never even seen before. I was also conditioned for years to get everything done before the kids got up. I’m not really a “people person,” and if you ever wanted to truly torture me, just drop me into gen pop at the main pool on a sea day. I’d eventually perish That said...I love everything else about cruising: the food, the ship, the destinations, the relaxation, and not cooking or cleaning. My routine is simple: coffee, catch up on blog/email, drop two coffees off in the room so when my wife wakes up they’re waiting. Then I throw on my suit, grab a mimosa or OJ, soak in an empty hot tub while watching the sunrise. After that it’s a change of clothes, gym or walking track. By then she’s had her coffee, enjoying room service, and we can actually relax together..balcony time or whatever the day brings. Works perfectly for us. I can relate to so much of your long post… then you lost me. My wife hits the walking track early a few mornings each cruise as long she slept well. Sometimes we leave the cabin together… with very different destinations. When the CL was on 4 I occasionally took a coffee down behind the aqua theater to watch the wake along with her coming by for however many laps she had left. These days if she’s still walking I wind up claiming/holding our Solarium spot so we don’t look like chair hogs. Ogilthorpe, JohnK6404, ScottD and 2 others 5 Quote

My schedule is so screwed up at the moment that I've been listening to a good chunk of the WIP overnight show several times/week hoping to fall back asleep. Fortunately I work from home but it's still not fun to get up at like 3am without a reason. Gonna need to go back to podcasts soon if this keeps up. Not too interested in listening to non-Eagles talk. I still follow the other teams but not nearly as closely from down here. ScottD, Ogilthorpe and Sweety 2 1 Quote

That sounds like a win win! I worked nights for two years..i would come in for court..they were like "who are you?" Thanks for asking...he’s been slamming pretty good at dinner and handling it well. It’s been a lot calmer than last year on Icon. He made a ton of friends last time and we rarely saw him. This cruise they canceled all the 18–25 events, so he’s still out till about 2, just not as rowdy. He’s found a group that does chess and drinking (don’t really see how those go together ) and they’ve been hanging at the Trellis Bar and playing chess in the park. C-man is doing great for his first time...keeping it cool and light with the drinks. They had a blast at Mason Jar trying all the cocktails… which is officially mine and cman's favorite spot now. 150 was okay. We didn’t ask for much and they still forgot my coffee and Trisha’s lemonade . We asked for extra yummy bread and you’d think we were asking for a kidney. Then we got the full “survey 10” speech at the end. Food was excellent, but we’re ready to move on. Pulling in to PDCC looks like a wonderful day! MaryS, JohnK6404, asquared17 and 7 others 10 Quote

SweetPea Posted January 10 Report Posted January 10 OMG, no night owls here! I suppose that would be good though if we ever all sail together. I mean, at least if you hate me in person, you'd know you'd rarely see me. Have fun at PDCC today, Keith! I'm so jealous; it's raining and yucky here. Love pulling into that island (it's the one day besides disembarkation that we're up at the buttcrack!). Fun fact: Norwegian's pier at Great Stirrup Cay next door is FINALLY operational. When we went in August, it was still a tender operation. I am guessing that they were tired of being roasted at the excuses given PDCC's close proximity.
