Royal Caribbean Passenger arrested in Nassau

According to the article below, a passenger was arrested in Nassau for possession of a handgun when coming back to the ship. The article states that Port Canaveral / Liberty of the Seas “missed it” when she boarded the ship at embarkation.

The article doesn’t say that she lives in Oklahoma, just her family.  I assumed she lived close enough to drive to the port, but you never know with the shoddy reporting these days.

The article starts with "An elderly Oklahoma grandma".

Not a pro or anti-gun comment... What's scary is they refer to her as, "the silver-haired widow who has a 'touch of dementia'"... maybe now is also the time to tell her to stop carrying a firearm?

You can fly with a firearm. You just have to put it in the checked bag and follow the rules.

First of all, you can’t blame Royal for this one. Port security are employees of the port, not Royal. Lots of people blaming royal on Facebook pages. 

Royal ultimately found it while she was attempting to re-board the ship

Lots of things don’t add up: 

In order to fly with a gun, it has to be in checked baggage. Somehow the gun made it into her purse to go ashore.

The only plausible scenario I can see is the gun may have been in a purse that she packed into the suitcase. But still, storing a gun in a purse with a 12 year old in your house is negligent. Having dementia is even scarier.
