I can’t see them matching all loyalty rewards (I.e, complimentary loyalty/milestone cruises) but this is completely unexpected (by me, anyway) and really shows a deep commitment by RCG to keep ALL of their loyalty customers in-brand.

IMO it’s kind of the anti-Carnival move.

That's why I'm very curious really what the details will be. Is it outright accrual, sail 7 nights in a suite on Celebrity, get 14 C&A points added to your RC account?

Or will there be a plethora of conditional things?

That's how I read it. Similar to how airlines let you credit your points flown to your partner of choice if they are in the same alliance.

For example, if a loyal Royal Caribbean guest is sailing with Celebrity Cruises for the first time, they can choose to apply the points earned for the Celebrity sailing to either brand’s loyalty program.

That's where I'm curious of the fine print. Is it truly that straight forward? Do I earn points based on the accrual rules of the program I pick, regardless of which line I sail? Or will there be some funky conversion that may dissuade me from trying to do this?

There are already several status match exceptions between the lines. What exceptions will there be for point accruals between the lines?

There will have to be some kind of conversion mechanism (Royal Math) to equalize the 2 accrual systems.  This is just a hypothesis, but since the Royal’s accrual system seems to be a bit simpler than the Celebrity accrual system, I’m going to suggest that they will probably convert the Celebrity system over to the Royal system which will, in all likelihood, infuriate the Celebrity folks….as if they aren’t already in a flitter over the whole status match thing…

In reality, who knows at this point…but knowing Royal they will make this adjustment work in their favor while assuring us that they are enhancing our cruise experience.  🤣🥰

Couple things I just learned:

Benefits will remain the same for Crown & Anchor, Captain’s Club and Venetian Society program.

The Status Match program is not changing (one-time matching between lines)

It wont apply to sailings you took in the past. "Points Choice will be offered only on cruises departing on or after the launch date."

This will definitely make me more likely to try Celebrity.  I was going to hold back on Celebrity until I hit Diamond Plus (likely in a few years time).   I may now consider Celebrity for 2027, especially since they seem to offer more varied itineraries.

I really hope this does not mean an “everyone loses a bit” situation. This also totally throws a wrench into my Europe summer 2027 plans…..I wish they would release details sooner to match the new itinerary release

If it’s worth the cost book both lines, then cancel one and pay the penalty.

See this is why I'm not getting my hopes up  about this until this info is released. Couldn't they just say "points will be accrued according to the rules of the program you want them applied to?"

Q If I choose to apply my points to a different brand, how will I know how many points I will get? For example, if I cruise with Celebrity and wish to receive Crown & Anchor points, how will I know the number of Crown & Anchor points I am eligible for?

A Points tables will be published with exchange rates between brands.

For example, the points tables will indicate how many Crown & Anchor points you are eligible for if you sail in a Sky Suite on Celebrity.

I just got an email about a new program that I have been asking for, for a long time. Apparently now whichever line you sail within the Royal Caribbean group you can choose which loyalty program the points go toward! I want to sail Celebrity but wasn't going to till we for to Diamond plus but now the points can just be directed to C&A. That is just awesome! Anyone else get this email? Was in the works and I'm just late to the party? 🤣 Either way I love it.

Wow! I cant wait to see what happens with this and when the start date will be.

We make Diamond Plus after our New Year's cruise and then are scheduled to be on Celebrity for a 14 nighter in an Aqua Class room in late January.

I'd just like to take a moment to thank Carnival cruises for scaring the daylights out of the other cruise lines and apparently Royal Caribbean the most with their stupid stunt that they seem incapable of getting out of. 🤣

I will say I could see NCL (because that cruise line seems brain dead) saying to Carnival at some point "hold my beer" and doing something even worse than Carnival with their loyalty program. 🤣 I am beyond down on NCL. They have to be the worst and absolutely dumbest.

Brilliant marketing strategy on the part of the parent company...keeps currently loyal cruisers within the multi-brand family without skipping a beat in terms of building up status points.

This will allow Kathy and I to test out Celebrity (and perhaps SilverSea?) and keep adding points while we chase down Diamond Plus status over the next several years or so.

Not that it matters to us, but it will be interesting to see how fun ship Brand X responds to this announcement while they stumble and fumble around with their wacky changes.

If my Celebrity cruise would get me 20 points on Celebrity but 10 on RC, then it would be straight forward for me to opt to take those 10 RC points.

That just feels too good to be true though.

I would think it would be the same.  Take for instance and I'll use myself as an example where most of my points are with Royal Caribbean not Celebrity. If I were to sail on Celebrity and choose to have the points applied to my Royal Caribbean account if I'm in a balcony stateroom on a 7 night cruise it would equate to 7 points in my RC account whereas if I"m in a suite on Celebrity on the same 7 night cruise it would equate to 14 points in my RC account. I'm sure the revers would be true for Celebrity cruiser who decided to cruise on a Royal ship they would get 3 points for a balcony, probably 5 points for a sea class suite, 8 points for a sky class suite and 18 points per night added to their Celebrity account for a Star class suite.

No matter how you look at it this is a game changer for the cruise industry and will allow Royal's most loyal customers across all 3 brands to experience any of the three brands while not losing out on those coveted cruise points helping get them to the next level.  This will most certainly drive loyalty and keep guest within the Royal Caribbean family of cruise lines and could help Royal expand beyond the 3 cruise lines currently in their portfolio if other lines become available for purchase in the future.

Matt, are you sure it’s a one time match?  The wording on the current program says it gets automatically updated. So if you go up a level with Royal the Celebrity level will go up as well. Seems like it’s best to apply all sailings to whichever is your highest level program and build there.

So we’ve sailed only Royal except for one Celebrity cruise last year. We are going on another Celebrity cruise early next year and will likely stay there in general since our kids are young adults. But no sense in banking points with Celebrity until we max out Royal, right?

5 free drinks daily + BoGo specialty restaurant + amenity gift will make me loyal to Celebrity in a heartbeat!

I hate to burst your bubble, but what has already been officially released says you will accumulate points on your favorite program, but the status match remains the same.

In other words, if you are D+ on C&A or Elite + on captains club, then you will get D+ benefits while sailing on Royal. However, you will get Elite + while sailing Celebrity.  Elite + doesn't have the drink vouchers or BOGO deal.
