Since they’re advertising a summer 2026 opening, they must have been working on it for a while

It appears they bought the Theros Beach Club, so they'll update it rather than build from scratch.

Or at least, that's my guess based on what the club looks like today vs the concept art and the fact it's supposed to open in less than a year.

I am happy it is including Fira and Oia visit , Dose not make much sense to go to Santorini and not visit at least Oia.

The main issue with Santorini is that its overcrowded and it can take hours until ability to use the cable car to and from the port. I hope the club excursion will somehow bypass it (the tenders will go directly to and from the beach club and from there buses will take you to Oia/Fira).

For just a beach club I guess other Greek Islands are much better for that kind of a club.

Agree. We were there in June and it looks like this is the same place.

There always something better (especially in Greece) but this is a great club and location if they did indeed purchase Theros. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

Great catch on the existing property !

Well.. looking at the Theros Beach Club online, I gotta tell ya' Royal Caribbean fans, if Royal is willing to buy a place like this and turn key a beach club.....Whoa! watch out; because they could easily do this 100 more times all over the map and in a very short timeframe.

Excited to see the new blog post and the announcement of the Royal Beach Club! I had been eyeing this excursion for a few weeks now for my Greek Isles cruise in Sept 2026 but it had been mentioning Theros Beach Club in the description, I guess it has just been updated to Royal Beach Club Santorini recently based on the announcement.

I have just booked it because I think it covers my main reason for the purchasing key - that being the tender priority in Santorini (well, and internet).  If I cancel the key which I had bought on sale, the price is basically the same as the Beach club - plus we still get time in Oia and Fira which were all we were originally planning to do, but the beach club and food/drinks in between sounds amazing.    I think it sounds like a perfect day for us.

Thanks for the blog post Matt!

This has to be the stupidest thing I’ve seen RC ever do…Just why? With the amount of history and things to do in Greece, why would someone want to go to this, when you can get the same thing in the Bahamas or Mexico. 🤦‍♂️Looks like I will be migrating over to Celebrity more often in the future.

As you can tell, I’m NOT a fan of private islands. 😂

This isn't a private island. You can still go to Santorini and ride a donkey or whatever else you like.

This is just a new beach club, which is more like a shore excursion.

I believe they're doing it for 2 primary reasons: addressing over tourism concerns and driving revenue for a self-run operation.

But don't confuse this with Perfect Day CocoCay.

And by the way, Celebrity can go to the beach club too.

To each their own.  This does not exclude having an authentic Santorini experience, but enhances it.  Plenty of time in the two main cities to see the local sites as well as a local beach experience.  What is wrong with that?

From the way I read it , the tender takes you to the Athinos port and you hop on a ferry from there (to Oia I suppose), and back to Athinos (probably by bus from Fira) at the end of the day for the tender.  So yes, avoids the cable cars 🙂image.thumb.png.cb6f61d26b73dc86c6e8bf6fe9b8e7d9.png

Celebrity will probably offer this experience as well. There’s plenty of time at this stop to enjoy the beach club and see the towns. I did them both with plenty of time to spare.

I guess I’m not seeing it the same as some of y’all. I see it as the same as an all inclusive resort, with a much higher cost for a half day, without the true benefits of an all-inclusive resort. I say this as how I separate vacations, we take cruises as a vessel to get to different ports/locations to get a short take of the area for a possible return for an extended time to see/do more than in a day. Resorts we book generally for returns to explore more of the area and relax a bit and finally all-inclusive just for relaxing and taking advantage of the resort property and what they offer.

This is why I feel that private islands are not a good fit for us. I will say that we also book cruises just for the ship as the destination.

@Scotsman thank you for posting.  I went and checked and this is offered on each of my back 2 back.  I did a lot of figuring and cancelled my OiyaFira excursion-which was pretty close in price, and I’m leaving that port open to explore Santorini as we are the late arrival ship so use of the cable car will be easy.  I booked this Royal beach club excursion for the following week…. Hubby will have to suffer through the crowds in Oiya/Fira. But will have the beach club to relax at some point.

Lower demand for the beach club concept for the typical X cruiser?

From the day it was announced, so I can't imagine they had any historical trends to draw conclusions from.
