Just read on another board that this is Anthem's inaugural visit to Miami.  Supposedly many city officials and RC execs will be coming out and there will be helicopter fly bys and aerial views preformed by the flowider and ifly staff. And I also read that she's getting the royal treatment from water cannons as she approaches the pier. Better get that camera out if this is all true. Looking forward to some breathtaking @twangster pics ?

Thanks for the heads up.  I'll try to secure a position to take photos upon our arrival.

@Sweety, we have the 8 night version which doesn't include Miami.  Keeping my fingers crossed for smooth seas come March in and out of NJ. This is one of my concerns with this ship.  Saw some footage of the NCL ship last week. It looked a bit frightening for lack of a better word.

We have the eight night New Year cruise December 2018.

New Year cruise!  I am so envious!  I have found that Christmas/New year prices are the craziest.  Even more expensive than Spring Break and summer.

I was able to get a balcony for 2200 for two with obc of 175. That's not two bad. Same price on Harmony for school break. Husband loves the way I budget.

@Sabrinaklai - I asked the on board Voom specialist about usage.  He can look up usage by user.

I've consumed 1.8GB down and 678MB up on this cruise so far here on day 3 but I'm a heavy user, watching periscope and such.

Thanks for checking!  So if we bought the two device plan then they can look up what is used under one code and not the other?  Is that what they mean by "usage by user"?

Not sure.  In this case I had a one device plan.  He looked me up based on the account I created since I bought on board.  I'm not sure how they could track by device on a multi device plan since anyone with that code can use it.  My assumption is they can't track individual users on a multi device plan since they don't know if 2 or 10 are using it, albeit only 2 at a time on a 2 device plan.

There is of course an easy solution.  Cruise on a cruise line that has unlimited plans. :8_laughing:

Haha...one more question...where did you go to find this out?

In today's cruise planner it was announced that tender tickets for CocoCay can be obtained from 2-3pm in Two70°.

When I arrived at 1:45pm the first four tenders were already gone but I got one for tender five.  That shouldn't be too bad, they board and turn quickly.

I have been reading conflicting information. If I have a bungalow will I need to get in line and get a tender ticket? Does everyone in your party have to be there? You have taught me so much with thes posts- thanks!

Walking along the Esplanade there was a temporary Voom kiosk setup for guest assistance.  I stopped and asked.  He looked me up on his laptop and reported my usage.

I'll try to ask shore excursions tomorrow.

I asked Shore Excursions.  Your bungalow ticket works for up to four guests as your tender ticket.  Use the forward gangway.

I had a beach bed and you just skip all the lines and can be first off.

Day 4 - Port Canaveral

We've arrived in Port Canaveral pulling into port as I slept.  I could feel the ship maneuvering but closed my eyes and drifted back to sleep.

After a quick breakfast I walked the track on deck 15.  It finally feels like a Bahama cruise.  In fact it feels like it could be become a hot day out there.

Last night I ate in the My Time MDR.  I've posted most of the MDR menus in my December Live Blog on Anthem so I'm not going to repeat them here.  That live blog can be found here:

https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/boards/index.php?/topic/5068-anthem-112517-712-b2b/

Service was fast, food was good.  No complaints.

I'm staying on the ship for most of the day.  I've got a massage booked this afternoon.  After that I may venture off just to check out the terminal.  Last time here we were on the other side of the harbor.

Maybe take a stroll on the lifeboat deck and measure those rails too? :10_wink:

Let's talk Jamie's.  Hope everyone has finished dinner.

Jamie's is located towards the aft on deck 5 in 'The VIA'.  It's is right beside Vintages.  There is indoor seating both along The VIA (like patio seating at a city café) as well as indoor seating deeper inside the restaurant.  There is also outdoor seating on the port side of the promenade deck that is covered by glass and truly outdoor.

Dinner tonight at Jamie's started with some Garlic Bread.

I tried the Vegetable Plank this time along with the Peperonata Bruschetta (again).  It was so good last time I had to anchor this meal with some things the same.

I had the meat plank on my last visit so in the interest of trying something different I tried the vegetable plank.  I've always strayed towards the meat plank but the vegetable plank has much better flavors. I'll be doing both again.

For a side dish I had the Crispy Polento Chips.

For my main course I tied the Simple Baked Lasagna.  I was going to try something else but the waiter suggested this and he was right.  It was very good.  Very hot and very filling.  After finishing three quarters of it I raised my white napkin in surrender.

I didn't include the dessert menu in the Jamie's post a few nights ago so here it is:

I was going to try the Raspberry Rippled Pavlova but my waiter warned me it's very sweet so I took his advice and went with the Epic Chocolate Brownie.

Section O, Row M, seat G.  If anyone has ever seen Monty Pythons Life of Brian when the waiter offers 'a wafer thin mint', that is how I feel right now.  Don't google it, trust me.  I'm not sure I'll eat for the rest of the cruise.

@twangster....love the pics...out of reactions though.

We had the vegetable plank last time on Harmony and I agree, the flavours were delicious.  Can you get a mix of the vegetable and meat plank?  Is that what you meant by getting both?  I am getting hungry again looking at these pics.  And I missed the polenta chips last time because hubby said it was too much food but I am getting it for sure in 46 days!  Not sure if you tried the tiramisu yet but that is also in your Section O Row M Seat G.  I am so glad I re-booked again!  Already planning my meal in my head!

I was thinking of alternating.  One visit do a meat plank, the next visit do a vegetable plank.  I hadn't thought to ask for a combo or if you can simply order both.  For me ordering both would be too much food but for a family it's certainly doable.

Family meaning 2 of us lol?!  My kids are the pickiest eaters.  They would never touch a veggie or meat plank.  They were looking at your blog with me earlier and they saw the food pics of Jamie's and they said, "That's what there is to eat there?" Then we got to the brownie pic and now they can't wait either!

I just thought of something else...don't know if you tried it yet but the arancini is awesome!  It sits in your stomach forever though!

Send them to the Dog House in the SeaPlex to eat!  :)

They don't have to eat off the planks, but if they are going anyways order both meat & vegetable for you and your husband.

No limit. It's the best on RC. I am the "silly girl" that @twangster refers to cause I'll be cheating this summer ?

Voom is unlimited.  I only asked at the request of a silly family who is sailing on some other cruise line that only offers a limited service.

Based on my research I'd blow through their limits by day 3.  I've sailed a few lines and bought internet on nearly every ship I've sailed on.  Make no mistake, Royal has the best internet at sea.  I was streaming the NFL playoffs on Sunday as I walked around the ship using Voom.  I routinely use Voom for wifi calling.  It's not perfect. You are after all hundreds of miles from land at times.   Heavy rain can degrade the signal and slow things down, but as internet on ships go, Royal has the fastest as long as you are between 45° N and 45° S latitude.   Above or below that you use conventional geosynchronous satellites with good but varying results.
