Please pardon if this question has been asked and answered before but here goes:  I know that you can bring 12 packs of soda onboard during embarkation but my question is (for my daughter who is the soda drinker in the family) can they be 6 or 8 packs of the smaller cans of the 7.5 oz cans and is it one pack per person in the cabin (only 2 in the cabin - no children).  And if they are the smaller cans, can it be 2 packs if only 6 in each pack?  Thanks for any advice.

Guests may also bring non-alcoholic beverages as carry-on items on boarding day. Non-alcoholic beverages may not exceed 12 standard (17 oz.) cans, bottles or cartons per stateroom.

This is the policy from the web site - anything outside of that would risk it being seized and held in the security room.  You could probably argue that the total ounces is the same or lower but it would be up to the person you talk to at the ship.  My guess is that you would be OK, but if it were me, I'd just get the normal 12 packs, or just buy her the soda package.

They can be any size, UP TO 16.9 oz. They can be any quantity UP TO 12 PER cabin. If you bring 8 x 8oz cans, that's fine. If you bring 16 x 8 oz cans - that is not allowed.        If you bring 3 x 2 liter bottles - not allowed.

You aren't restricted to a 12 pack of the same thing.  The rule is 12 items (can/bottle/carton) of up to 17 oz each.  You could bring 12 different sodas as long as each item is under the size limit.
