Researching this myself... The train doesn't leave til 6PM and gets in to Anchorage. For me its ok I was planning an extra night in Anchorage after going halibut fishing from Seward. Im not sure what other options that there might be as I'm not booked yet and cant see excursions. 12:25 is a tough one considering the distance and time it would take... I like Anchorage so its not awful having to spend an extra night there.

We just got off Radiance OS two weeks ago tomorrow. We booked the MORNING (06:30 AM) train. We arrived at ANC from Seward around 11 AM. It's a specific train that only takes Royal passengers. There is food that you can buy on the train. All cars are domed cars. This is NOT the Coastal Classic (which includes the Gold Star Service), which another poster mentioned. It should eventually show up in your CP.

@wordell1 and @wstephensiI should add that the train will drop you off at the airport. If you booked the City Transfer train, that just means that once you arrive at the airport, you'll be boarding a coach to the downtown City Center, which we did. We then had a room at the Hilton booked for the rest of the day until our 12:45 AM flight. It was a nice place to keep our stuff, take a nap, shower, and act as our base camp as we spent a couple of hours at the Anchorage museum, ate at Humpy's, and hit our usual fun stores. We were also there for the Friday night festival. You absolutely MUST book any hotel in advance in Anchorage. We booked ours about 4 months out. You can also make the City Center your base camp, too. They have a free (you already paid for it, actually) shuttle back to the airport port every hour after your arrival. The last shuttle to ANC is 10 PM. We never took a car anywhere. Everything was within walking distance.

My only concern with the train is that our flight is at 12:25 in the afternoon. The train may cut it too close.

Yes, I agree. You would probably be better served by the coach, which is a much shorter travel time. Next time (wink), do a south bound sailing and take the Gold Star service on the Coastal Classic from Anchorage to Seward. It's magical. A side note: if you're flying on Alaska Airlines, stay abreast of your flight times. They are constantly changing them. Our flight times changed three times this summer on our Alaska and Canada trip. We've been four times now, and every Alaska flight has changed multiple times. Remember if they change your time by more than 1 hr, YOU have the right to change your flights. Regardless, Alaska Airlines if my favorite airlines, hands down.

We are doing a BTB with a 6-day precruise tour with Royal.  I know we take a train, but I'm not sure what exactly it will be.  Definitely looking forward to this trip.
