Don't they have to sail to a foreign port? Also I'd rather sail to a deserted island than Port Canaveral. Quote

tjcruisers Posted August 14 Report Posted August 14 I tend to be a hurricane magnet whenever I travel to the south during this time of year (2/3rds of the time I encounter one). Heck I had a few where we weren't suppose to be in the path, well until we got to the destination and the hurricane completely changes it's path WAAAYTOOO and ImOnlyHereForTheInk 2 Quote

smokeybandit Posted August 14 Author Report Posted August 14 At this point Bermuda seems the only high risk port for itinerary disruptions. Closer to the states, there could be some wind/wave issues that could disrupt some passengers, but maybe not any port threats. Quote

MaryCS62 Posted August 15 Report Posted August 15 Just found out this morning our Liberty 5 night to Bermuda is turning into a 5 night to Nova Scotia - NOT what I want, but I am consoled by the fact that when we return to Bayonne next Thursday, hopefully the weather will have cleared enough that our 9 night Bermuda/Caribbean cruise will go south as intended PPPJJ-GCVAB, WAAAYTOOO, Ogilthorpe and 2 others 3 1 1 Quote

Atricks Posted August 19 Report Posted August 19 Wonder's current position seems unnecessarily precarious right now. Not sure why they are that close to hurricane Erin with the waves that thing is generating. Anyone hear from someone on wonder right now? Checking the path they probably had a really rough night overnight. Quote

ScottD Posted August 20 Report Posted August 20 We were docked next to SY yesterday in PC and their passengers told us they canceled Nassau for today, which is where we are still headed. The water was a little rocky last night but right now its not bad at all, and looks like the other lines continued there, as well. Not sure why they decided not to go. We were sailing side by side with them late last night, then they basically stopped and we blew past them (Star did pass by us very closely in the opposite direction around the same time, so that was cool) these pics were taken within minutes of each other. 1. The waves started to settle around 4pm on Tuesday and by evening it was back to normal. The path they took was supposed to be the calmer path at some points I thought it was the Drake passage lol. Things were rolling off the counter at one point. Our “Drake Shake” was on the Ultimate World Cruise. The captain chose an early departure to miss 40 foot waves. Instead we had 30 foot waves. Surprisingly, it was not as bad as we thought it would be. The approximate 18 hour trip was mostly overnight and not as noticeable when we were trying to sit or walk (which was difficult). When we arrived in Antarctica it was a “sea of glass” (the only waves were caused by our wake). The return crossing was the “Drake Lake”. Calm seas and a clear blue sky. Quite an experience. Hope you get more “lakes” for the rest of your cruise. Curt from Canada. WAAAYTOOO and Lovetocruise2002 1 1 Quote

Yes … 7 meters seems a little low. Ultimate World Cruise went through just over 9 meters when trying to avoid 12. 7 must be a comfort consideration.
