Took until mid August, but we finally have one.

Hurricane Erin is expected to either impact Bermuda or the path to Bermuda, so the next Vision cruise is ditching Bermuda for Port Canaveral

We sail Liberty to Bermuda in late sept/Oct and I'm worried. Don't they have to sail to a foreign port? Also I'd rather sail to a deserted island than Port Canaveral. 🤣

They're also going to Nassau

Vision will be on a 9-nighter, so they have a few days in the Bahamas anyway.

Oh duh I was thinking only from NJ where Bermuda is the only stop. Now that makes sense.

[sarcasm] But they also get an extra six hours in Nassau! Let the rejoicing begin. [/sarcasm]

I tend to be a hurricane magnet whenever I travel to the south during this time of year (2/3rds of the time I encounter one). Heck I had a few where we weren't suppose to be in the path, well until we got to the destination and the hurricane completely changes it's path

Are you cruising on Icon on the 13th next month?

Looks like the next Liberty cruise to Bermuda is now a Canadian cruise.

We are on Liberty to Bermuda September 27th 🤞 but honestly we LOVE Halifax so I would not be completely bummed.

I am on a Canada Cruise in early October on Liberty to Canada in an owner's suite, but if I am forced by a hurricane to divert to Bermuda I will not complain. Especially since I pack the same clothes for both itineraries. Bermuda shorts in a foot of snow, absolutely I have done it!

That would be an interesting hurricane that forces a ship south rather than north. 🤣 I guess anything is possible.

Wonder's current position seems unnecessarily precarious right now.   Not sure why they are that close to hurricane Erin with the waves that thing is generating.  Anyone hear from someone on wonder right now?  Checking the path they probably had a really rough night overnight.

We were docked next to SY yesterday in PC and their passengers told us they canceled Nassau for today, which is where we are still headed. The water was a little rocky last night but right now its not bad at all, and looks like the other lines continued there, as well. Not sure why they decided not to go. We were sailing side by side with them late last night,  then they basically stopped and we blew past them (Star did pass by us very closely in the opposite direction around the same time, so that was cool) these pics were taken within minutes of each other. 1. Yeah it was not a good time overnight or during the day. The waves started to settle around 4pm on Tuesday and by evening it was back to normal. The path they took was supposed to be the calmer path 😳 at some points I thought it was the Drake passage lol. Things were rolling off the counter at one point.

Our “Drake Shake” was on the Ultimate World Cruise.  The captain chose an early departure to miss 40 foot waves. Instead we had 30 foot waves. Surprisingly, it was not as bad as we thought it would be.

The approximate 18 hour trip was mostly overnight and not as noticeable when we were trying to sit or walk (which was difficult).  When we arrived in Antarctica it was a “sea of glass” (the only waves were caused by our wake).

The return crossing was the “Drake Lake”. Calm seas and a clear blue sky.

Quite an experience.

Hope you get more “lakes” for the rest of your cruise.

Interesting that the protocol is keeping ships at least 300 miles from the eye of a storm and or under 5 meter waves, with an absolute max of 7 meters.

Yes … 7 meters seems a little low. Ultimate World Cruise went through just over 9 meters when trying to avoid 12.

7 must be a comfort consideration.

Serenade handled 9 meters easily (rough, but only decks 2 & 3 were under water 😂).

Signed … Deck 7 Snob 😉

I would have been passed out for the duration of that lol

Without exaggeration, the best part was my soulmate and I sitting in the Schooner Bar (mid afternoon), chairs turned around to face the windows, two martinis, the piano player playing “Someone to Watch Over Me”, while the ocean spray wafted up to Deck 06.

Serene, violent and beautiful all at the same time. The sea has many “faces” … I love all of them.
