Just saw this come across my Google News feed.  I'm sure this has "always happened" and is more noticeable with social media and ease of recording, but I really hope Royal can nip this quickly so they don't get a bad reputation.   Of course the article doesn't include all the details, so no idea why it really happened.

4 day booze cruise on Jewel.

How "Carnival like".......

The Utopia also only does 3 and 4 night sailings to Cococay and Nassau .. Perhaps a unfortunate combination at PDCC that day 🤔

FWIW, having been on 4 short Utopia cruises this summer (2 B2B's), I don't subscribe to that sweeping generalization.

I don't doubt that some short cruises are "booze cruises" but with school out, we saw tons of families/kids and the vibe wasn't very different at all from our usual 7N summer cruises, especially last month.

Ok, ANY cruise. Lifetime total of 6 cruises here. 4 night to 8 night. I have seen Royal security engaging in incidents on 4 Royal cruises. Three in pool deck areas, 2 fights, one falling down commode hugging drunk that needed to be assisted to their cabin. The fourth incident was on Jewel in the cabin we were in at 1130 at night. Screaming, throwing stuff against the wall event. 3 security officers and the deck manager response. And a sincere  personal apology from the deck manager for the chaos.

The two most serene cruises; HAL and MSC. HAL cuz we were all somewhere between 65 & deceased. MSC because (to me) the alcoholic beverages seemed lacking in alcohol, and I only drink whiskey neat or rocks or gin & tonic. Hard to cheap out on that but.................🤪

That altercation is also a reason why when we go to PDCC we stick with the beach. The pools and their environment  are just too raucous for us, even without ultimate fighting.

We've just had totally different experiences then. We always sit by the pool (at least a dozen times) and have never found it "raucous" where we sit... not far from the swim up bar but we don't hang out directly in front of it either. I have seen it get crowded depending on the ships in port but nothing that interferes with our relaxing day of lounging, taking dips to cool off, and making food runs.

Too late! RC’s reputation is already below carnival.

I’ve read several reports that it was a wedding party and the fight was between the two families of the bride and groom. Nice.

Stay classy Royal🙄

Too late! Royal has less class than carnival n

That's not a promising way to start a new life together!

I wish them a long and happy marriage,  but...

as you are aware, we were on one of those with you...I did notice more activity that could be called 'Carnival like' around the pool areas etc. but I saw nothing that would have elevated it to a booze cruise. For the record...I was in my cabin between 10 and 11 each night.

On a 3 day Utopia sailing.   We shared PDCC with Oasis.   On our way home now, final night.

Another perfect day at CocoCay complete.   Nothing but fun and sun.   Okay a few clouds at times, but no rain.

Utopia and Oasis...wow...potentially in excess of 10,000 people on that island. Happy to hear it was just fun in the sun.

i might be having a fever dream, but i could have sworn the eventuality of PDCC was to be able to hold three ships at the same time. i forget where they were planning to put the additional dock.

(again… this could have been a fever dream i had 🤣)

People casually mentioned that a "crew member told me that" but it's not happening.

Well  arrests should be made and charges should be filed. Plus RC should ban for life. We don't need to see this on our vacations

"arrests" by whom?  What governing legal body has jurisdiction over cococay?  Is it the US Virgin Islands?

"charges should be filed"? If the US Virgin Islands has law enforcement jurisdiction, how do you know if the fight constituted filable "charges"?  I, personally, would not assume that they have the same criminal laws that the US does.

Though, I would agree that some type of ban from RCCL should be instituted. Lifetime ban? Maybe not, but surely some type of shorter term ban.

Yes, I had an officer tell me that. In 2020.

In 2020, before the mammoth ships now stopping there existed. Three large 2020 ships would have been less total passengers than some combinations of two current ships that visit PDCC.
