raftman Posted July 29 Report Posted July 29 Hello. Right now i have a Spacious infinite ocean view balcony booked on Star of the seas. I was wondering if it might be worth it to bid on a Junior Suite balcony. What do you think? Thank You. Quote
smokeybandit Posted July 29 Report Posted July 29 As with any "worth it" question, it's subjective to what you want out of it. Are the limited perks of a junior suite really worth the cost to you? Ryan79 1 Quote
twangster Posted July 29 Report Posted July 29 Keep in mind no extra CAS points with a RU win when you are not in a suite already, so "worth it" is very subjective depending on the cost. JustMeJoe, Ogilthorpe and teddy 3 Quote
wordell1 Posted July 29 Report Posted July 29 Keep in mind that you would not receive double points for a JS on a royal up bid. It is up to you what it is worth, but the perks for JS are minimal to non existent. It is a bigger cabin. JustMeJoe 1 Quote
Zenra Posted July 29 Report Posted July 29 If you like the room (moving from Infinite Balcony to what is basically a slightly larger OVB) and are willing to bid a certain amount, then sure. In my opinion, the 'perks' of a JS aren't worth it if that was something you were looking at as part of your decision. Quote
smokeybandit Posted July 29 Report Posted July 29 ALso if you really want a Jr Suite, go take a look at what it'd cost to simply upgrade your cabin now instead of waiting for Royal Up. teddy, SebagoSue and HeWhoWaits 3 Quote
HeWhoWaits Posted July 29 Report Posted July 29 Without the double points for booking a JS, there would seem to be little value to "upgrading" via Royal Up. As @smokeybanditsays, it may be worth upgrading directly instead and getting the double points but you need to be aware of potential issues if you have already made final payment (which is nearly always the case if you've received an offer to bid via Royal Up). WAYNO Posted July 29 Report Posted July 29 And I'll be the one to say, yes, a Junior suite is a very worthwhile upgrade. That said, if you're really interested, I'd upgrade directly and get the points. My luck with RoyalUp bids has been dismal. Quote
Ampurp85 Posted July 29 Report Posted July 29 Another thing to consider is that the option to bid may never become available. Quote
SeaSunnedTraveler Posted July 29 Report Posted July 29 The only upside I see to a Junior Suite is dinner at Coastal Kitchen, space permitting. Quote

And the larger cabin, and the full size sofa, and the larger balcony with two loungers, and the tremendous closets and storage, and a desk that can be used without being in the way of anybody, and the twice a day cabin service. If none of this means anything, then yes, a Junior Suite is completely unnecessary. BR34 and ImOnlyHereForTheInk 1 1 Quote
Scotsman Posted October 30 Report Posted October 30 I was just looking at the Royal up bid for my upcoming cruise and thought "why not". I am already in a junior suite so put a bid in for a one bedroom suite. Out of curiosity I attempted a "dummy" booking for the same ship/date and noticed all suites are sold out so I assume this Royal up bid is purely a fail safe for Royal Caribbean in the event any current booking cancel and the chances of a successful upgrade are between slime and none? You never know as some of the calculations are based on several transactions. A person with a 1 bedroom may bid on a larger suite, which opens that one, and someone may have bid on a junior which makes them want to free up yours. My advice on these is to bid what you are comfortable with, but not to have any expectations. The ships are mostly full these days, so successful bids are rare Scotsman and Ogilthorpe 2 Quote
tonyfsu21 Posted October 30 Report Posted October 30 Book it if you want it. Royal Up is a pipe dream nowadays (especially for suite level of any kind). Good luck. WAAAYTOOO, RCIfan1912 and Ogilthorpe 3 Quote
Pinki Pink Posted October 31 Report Posted October 31 There is hope. I was in a Jr. suite on Symphony and bid on the 1 BR grand suite $300 pp and won 12 days before sailing. My entire sailing looked as though it was sold out in all categories. It was a no brainer for me for the perks. You get free premium Wi-Fi on one device per person. Meals in Coastal Kitchen, which I found to be much better quality than the MDR. They have a complimentary bar in Coastal Kitchen/ Suite Longe during dinner hours. Specialty coffees in the suite lounge. Priority seating in shows. Could have the MDR menu delivered to the room. The extra space, huge balcony with table & chairs to eat at plus 2 padded lounge chairs. I was able to cancel my Wi-Fi package that was $240.00 plus I cancelled some of my specialty dining. Then add in the drinks and upgraded room it was worth it to me. Good Luck with your bid! Let us know how it goes! WAAAYTOOO, KristiZ, fireclan and 1 other 3 1 Quote
EmilyC Posted November 4 Report Posted November 4 If we are in a room that sleeps 3 people and we get a royal up bid will it automatically give us another room for 3? Quote

If you are currently booked with 3 people in the room, yes. If you only have 2 booked, you risk the chance of being upgraded to something that only holds 2 people and you wouldn't be able to add a third later. Ogilthorpe, RCIfan1912 and Ryan79 2 1 Quote
