Anybody do that this year? Thanks! Just got back from Sitka, and I had posed the same question before our cruise. Our excursion group met in the theater, walked off the ship, and arrived at our own bus. The email is for folks without excursions who want to go into town. Our excursion included otter/whale watching, and we returned by boat next to the Serenade. Quote
smokeybandit Posted June 5 Report Posted June 5 Did they change it in the last couple years? In 2022 they just had buses lined up to take people into town. You didn't need to book anything Quote
Ryan79 Posted June 5 Report Posted June 5 @smokeybandit I'm wondering the same thing. I was there in 2023 and remember the same thing as you…a big line of buses waiting to take folks into town with no reservation or pre-booking necessary. Quote
pat8635 Posted June 5 Author Report Posted June 5 Thanks! I was on celebrity last time and didnt remember having to book ot, but email was confusing! Thank you all, group appreciates it! Quote
Traveling Mike Posted June 5 Report Posted June 5 I just went to Sitka and got on line and made a reservation for the bus. I got a time for going to town and coming back. When I got to the busses there was not a line and they did not ask about the reservation. The same coming back. Now i do not know what it will be like in the summer or when there are a couple of ships docked. It does not cost anything and in case you need it, you might save a wait in line for a bus. And weather is a factor. Aside from sunny Vancouver, we had light or heavy rain in all ports. The Sitka town bus line was short when we arrived about noon. I won't go to Alaska in May again. Quote

smokeybandit Posted June 6 Report Posted June 6 I would love to go to Alaska in May. I like that kind of weather. But, for that to happen I think that'll have to be a solo cruise someday. Quote
SebagoSue Posted June 6 Report Posted June 6 We were just in Alaska for Memorial Day week and the weather was beautiful while in Skagway and Sitka, and just a bit of rain in Juneau. It poured on our sea days, though. In Sitka, we had made reservations for a return shuttle trip to the ship, but they really were not needed. There were 2 lines, one for reservations and one for no reservations. Since we decided to return at a different time than our reservation, we got in the no res line and it took less than 5 minutes to get on a bus. Quote
