Is that the same brand as Little Caesar's Pizza here in the US? Their tag line is, "Pizza Pizza", and they're another truly awful chain line.

Oh, we have Little Caesar's here in Canada.  It's awful.  Whenever we go to Joe Louis Arena (now known as Little Caesar's Arena, I thought it was a joke at first lol) I always pray that we don't win the pizza toss.

Little Caesars I would say is a little better than Sorrento's but not much...however it is cheap so it is what it is.

I have to admit that the "snack" or pub type foods on Royal has never been very good in my experiences. Which is both surprising and disappointing. I am surprised more customers over the years haven't complained to the point where they would do something about it.

Hoping celebrity has better and tastier options?!......I know they have the grill out on the pool deck for burgers and snacks, but not open late I am sure so I guess I'll have to see once I am on board in 12 days!

I've waited for all of the "haters" to have their say and I will take a stab at standing up for Sorrento's pizza !!

:1_grinning:

I will start out by admitting that I am neither a pizza snob nor a pizza connoisseur but I think the pizza at Sorrento's (at least, on Allure, which is one of the very few times I have tried it) wasn't bad.  I have certainly had better but I have had FAR worse, too.

Admittedly, we got the pizza when it was very fresh (immediately after they opened) and we were enjoying a nice cold beverage across the way in the pub while they were putting up the Christmas tree on Allure in Nov. but we rather enjoyed it.

Not much else to say, really.  When you are really hungry and it is right there waiting for you, it's ok.

I will make myself an even GREATER target by admitting that I also don't mind the hot dogs at the Dog Shack (or whatever it's called).  I love the greasy burgers at Johnny Rocket's too.  So there.

Nah. Different chain. Similar slogan.

I'd take a 5 dollar hot and ready from little ceasars over Sorrentos.. That's how bad the RCI pizza is

I gotta go with Waaaytooooo as well.

Look, it ain't artisanal, I get it.  But when the time comes, and we all know what time I'm talking about, Sorrento's is as good an option

as there is on the boat!  If I'm looking a little cock-eyed and listing a bit when I walk, I don't want lobster or prime rib - just gimme some za, even Sorrento's.

Unrelated, but this thread is a fantastic example of why when you read cruise reviews and someone writes "the food was terrible" or "the beds were awful" or "Billy was really annoying", you can't hold any of it as gospel.  Food is so subjective, as evidenced by this thread!

Okay, I feel better now :6_smile:

Agree!  I wrestled with reviews on "Blue Waters Beach Club" for over an hour yesterday before I quit stressing and just booked the damn thing.  Some loved it, some hated it.  One thing I have learned, if the review is 100% negatice on multiple aspects of a cruise/tour/hotel etc. chances are it is the reviewer and not the reviewed that had a problem

FWIW, I did not enjoy Blue Waters, although the behavior of my kids may have overshadowed other deficiencies in the excursion itself. I can tell you this much: the 5 star lunch they advertise was anything but.

Great post!  I love hot dogs, so I've been hoping they're good on board.  Sorrento's I disagree.  I like Johnny Rockets as well.

Ive been on 3 cruises so far (all Royal) and with each ship it was better: -

Navigator (via Cafe Promenade) was OK

Anthem (via Sorrento's) was good providing they made you a fresh one there and then (when we went in January 2017, the place reeked of fish!?! Unsure why that was but hey ho)

Freedom (via Sorrento's) was the best damn pizza I've had........  On a cruise ship

Now bearing in mind I've had the real deal from the actual town of Sorrento in Campania, Italy absolutely NOTHING will beat the real deal however I just don't get the inconsistency regarding pizza at all

Is it any better from Coastal Kitchen?  I know they do a relatively fancy one

I don't remember pizza in CK. I think there may have been flatbread but not actual pizza. Unless it was served at lunch (we usually eat elsewhere for lunch).

Pepperoni should always be shredded on pizza to maintain consistency in every bite!

That sounds like a Windsor, ON thing ?

And this is why nations have borders.

Pepperoni needs to be whole, and the thicker the better, to give you something to bite into and drag a little bit of cheese off with it.  :)

Then you are left with bite(s) with just bread and sauce.  But I guess that is what dogs are for.

Worst pizza I had on land was in Quebec City, QC.  They put their pepperoni underneath the cheese.

Blasphemy! But, still better than Sorrentos. Next thing they will have pizza with freedom fries, cheese curds and gravy. Washed down with a Pepsi and followed up with a Mae West.

(Sorry...a north of the 49th parallel thing)

The CEO Michael Bayley has stated they were going to improve the pizza.

I'm not sure that's happened yet. It certainly wasn't very good when I was on Harmony in the summer. We'll see if it has improved next month on the Anthem.

Mr. Bayley also once said internet would be free on Enchantment.

I'm not sure that's happened yet.

well I am home from my indy cruise I must say sorrentos in my opinion has not changed much I don't know if it was just because we overworked our drink pkg but it wasn't to bad in line with red baron we enjoyed it they have the equiptment to make a good pie but they lack the knowledge one big fault I found was very little to no sauce but after closing the casino it was pretty good and hot the ham pineapple and tomato was my favorite I was a little annoyed by the room service they charged 7.95 room service which I was aware of but then charged another 2.00 ghost charge for what I have no idea bringing the total to 9.95 per order royal really needs to stop the nickel and diming they are better then that and after talking to fellow passengers its starting to piss them off

Okay.

I made sure to hit Sorrento's last week on Oasis.  It wasn't awful.  I'm not sure why everyone bashes it so much, as

it's not much worse than Domino's.  It's quick and easy, which is always a plus when you have things to do and places to see!
