steverk Posted April 2 Report Posted April 2 I noticed this video today and find it interesting: I can think of several more reasons for it to be Celebrity. 1. The Texas Cruiser youtube channel recently reported that Royal has approached the Galveston Wharves for permission to add a second dock t the existing terminal. Why would they do that if Celebrity wasn’t in the future? 2. During the 2024 Celebrity Presidents cruise, the president was asked “When will Celebrity sail out of <fill in favorite home port here>?” Her answer was always, “We’d love to do that if only we had more ships.” However, Galveston was different. She wasn’t asked about Galveston but brought up on her own that Royal has a spectacular terminal that Celebrity could use, it is the fastest growing market in the United States and there is sufficient market to support Celebrity. What do you think? Quote
smokeybandit Posted April 2 Report Posted April 2 What I got out of that video was that another cruise line may take the spot of Princess, and it could be any lines that don't currently sail out of Galveston. Doug_Texas 1 Quote
BB1 Posted April 2 Report Posted April 2 There will be many Icon and Edge ships. I don't think it's a matter of if but when. Just my opinion. Quote

Cakemeister Posted April 3 Report Posted April 3 Thanks for posting. I was unaware that Princess was leaving Galveston. steverk 1 Quote

steverk Posted May 13 Author Report Posted May 13 I noticed something very interesting. Looking at the Celebrity website, Celebrity Solstice allows you to search cruises between March 2026 and April 2027. But when you do so, it says "Sorry, there were no cruise search results for the selected filters." This wasn't the case a month ago (in fact a booked 3!). Could this be the first step toward a redeployment of Celebrity Solstice or is it just a glitch on the website? If it is a redeployment, would Galveston be in the cards? Leave your thought below! Something is up with her, that's a lot of cruises over a long period of time. Anything is possible. steverk 1 Quote

Interesting. I would be surprised if this isn't just a mistake and they actually forgo the 2026 Alaska season for Galveston. But then again I don't work for a cruise company so I guess it's possible. BB1 Posted May 13 Report Posted May 13 I'm actually on Solstice September of 2026 going to Alaska. On the Celebrity app it still shows the cruise. I guess we'll have to see if anything changes. I do expect a Celebrity ship to move to Galveston but it's just a guess and I have no idea when. Quote

Geezer Of The Seas Posted May 14 Report Posted May 14 Read a story on Cruisehive today that Margaritaville at Sea is acquiring a third scow to smear lipstick on. Currently operated by Costa. The plan is to place it in service next year. Galveston would seem a logical homeport...... WAAAYTOOO and steverk 1 1 Quote

Margaritaville's short itineraries setting sail from Galveston would seem to fit their business model. Must be a underserved group of Parrotheads in the North central gulf. Quote

Geography just doesn't support 3 night cruises with the PVSA. The same can be said of New Orleans. Except I think the vibe would fit even better there. Time will tell! Quote
steverk Posted May 29 Author Report Posted May 29 It has been announced the Disney will sail out of Galveston year round. It isn't clear to me if this is the company that has picked up the vacant space from Princess or if it is an expansion of service. Therefore, it probably means that Celebrity isn't picking up those docking options. Quote
Cakemeister Posted May 30 Report Posted May 30 This does not include wifi ($) or gratuities ($16 pppd). I think I'll pass. I am paying less for my Yacht Club experiment on MSC. But I'm sure the shows are good. Doug_Texas, PhillyLady and Shari 1 2 Quote

I see the allure of a Disney cruise for families with kiddos, but they're sure proud of them with those prices. That's the price of a suite on most ships out of Galveston. Quote

This is for two people, so $2K per person and no gratuities or wifi. Apples to apples, a 7-night cruise on Harmony out of Galveston is about $840 per person as I write this, no gratuities or wifi. Disney is more than double. Interestingly, 7-night cruises on Allure are over $1K per person (post-amplification, I guess, or maybe they are just cranking up the prices for 2026) Quote

The answer to my earlier question is a definite "No!" I just received an email from Celebrity about my March 2027 Transpacific cruise. The V1 prime veranda has been reclassified as a C2 Concierge room. The sailings are back on the website as usual. It looks like they disappeared while they did the reclassification of the rooms.
