Interest in a San Juan/Adventure post dry dock Live Blog 2/22 - 3/3?

Hello All,

Just trying to see if I can gather some interest here on a live (or live-ish) blog on my upcoming Adventure cruise. We'll be spending a couple days in San Juan prior to our 2/24 embarkation, and sailing on Adventure a couple sailings after she returns from her quick dry dock to wrap up improvements that were delayed by the hurricane in her last dry dock. I feel like questions about conditions in San Juan as well as Adventure are something I see fairly frequently, so if there is enough interest I'll try and do a daily check in here with any information that I have!

We'll be sailing on Adventure 2/24 in an interior cabin on deck 3. The itinerary is St. Maarten, St. Kitts, Antigua, St. Lucia, and Barbados. Right now, our only plans are to take an island tour on St. Maarten (Bernard's Tours), and then our family (there are 12 of us going!) has a private catamaran chartered for snorkeling in Barbados through Good Times Charters.

If there is anything else you'd like to know, or if you are interested in following along something like this, let me know! I've never done a live blog before, but if there's enough interest around I'd be happy to commit to this.

I doubt there was ever a Live Blog nobody was interested in :1_grinning: I'll definetly follow yours. But don't forget you should also enjoy the blogging - if you feel it's more of an imposition you should just enjoy your cruise. You can always do a roundup later.

Alright! That's settled then - I talked it over with Ryan and we'll plan on bringing my laptop along so I can upload pictures easily.

Working now on getting the stateroom situation figured out - looks like there were some post final payment price drops, and we might be moving up to a Promenade Interior! (We were able to move up to a deck 8 interior late last week to get out from under the casino)

We are doing the same cruise in March and I will be interested in your St. Maarten excursion. I have excursions for all the other ports but struggling for that port. The one cultural tour we picked out does not run on a Sunday which is the day we are in port. All the other excursions involve shopping and beaches..

I emailed them late last week to confirm that they were still running, but I have not heard back yet. If not that, we may just end up taking the water taxi over by downtown and walk around / find a spot on the beach from there.

I will definitely be tuning in!  We're on Adventure in May 2018, once she moves up to New Jersey.  My itinerary is very lame, none of the stops you will be making, but it's about the family getting away together, probably for the last time with the grandparents as my kids are both in college.  Once they graduate and get jobs I don't see many family cruises coming along.  But we will be visiting some of those islands in October on Serenade.

If this offers you any encouragement - this IS  family cruise for us! My husband's parents, us (29 / 27), his siblings and their husbands/wives (all 29 / 27, and all of us graduated and with jobs - no kids yet, either!), his aunt and older cousin, and our brother in law's parents - big ol' group of us on a family cruise! :D

His family is actually the one who introduced me to cruising when we all took a cruise on Liberty, and shortly following I became totally obsessed. And now they think I'm nuts. :)

I sure wish I was in Nuremberg this time of year.   Some gulasche suppe and some gluhwein - YUM!

Yes, Kayla, I'd also be interested in your blog!!!    Can't get too many of 'em!

We just came back from one of those. Except we had 6 kids all under 11 with us too. Got to experience a super balcony since we had 3 rooms connected and the room attendant opened it up.  Hubby said that is what the presidential suites must be like lol.  Never a night where someone did not cry or vomit. Complete chaos. Pure fun. Great memories!

We have a family cruise June 2018 on Grandeur. 4 junior suites, celebrating Dad's retirement (60 years) and Mom's birthday. You are right pure fun and memories.

Now that I'm booked on AD for May 5th, I want to see it all!!  I'm excited to follow along!

Hi Michael,

I always enjoy your live blogs! Are you planning to post one for your cruise on Adventure? I'm booked on the same ship in December for an eight-night Eastern Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale :)

Thanks!
