Looking at these two ports & absolutely nothing interests me.  I am not an “outdoors” type so hiking lush tropical areas isn’t for me (and I am DEATHLY AFRAID of snakes).  Hubby might like a catamaran sailing & I might be willing to do that.  Is the a town either local shops & restaurants we could stroll around?

There are no poisonous snakes in St Lucia to be afraid of. I spent 3 weeks there this summer and went back on Rhapsody last month and never saw one. There are shops around the immediate port area, but the area isn’t the best. I’d recommend taking a taxi to Rodney Bay Area that is a tad better for shopping/food.

Edit: while not the same company, I did an exact copy of that excursion that @smokeybandit linked below and it was a lot of fun!!

Ok doesn’t make any difference if the snake is or isn’t poisonous!
Just to give you an idea of the breadth of my phobia, we frequently stayed at Portifino Resort at Universal.  I loved the walk between the resort & the parks especially at night.  Then I read an article about snakes falling out of trees.  Nope, never walked that path again.  At a hotel in Sarasota outside at the pool.  Black snake near the fence on the other end of the pool.  You guessed it, only ventured outside to get to the car and then made hubby or daughter walk in front of me.

St. Kitts has a little port area with shops and restaurants. It's not that big. I haven't left the port area by foot, so I don't know if there's much worth walking to outside of the port area.

I did the train ride as a Royal excursion there and enjoyed it as a way to be lazy and sit and see a lot of the landscape. It did get a bit long in the tooth by the end, though. I wouldn't do it by myself again though I enjoyed it.

lol 😂 you sound like my twin!  Although not just snakes…but large ominous 🕷️ and possibly just about anything else that crawls!  Me?  Most definitely not an outdoorsy…camping in the wilderness (not even a nice campground) human being!  I have a few of my own stories of running away from slithery creatures especially because one of my very best friends lives in Tucson (yup just like you @Cactus527!).  I absolutely love the desert 🏜️ 🌵 but just not what I might end up seeing!  😝

St Kitts is pretty underdeveloped. The Port area is a little chaotic we felt but once you got out it is a typical Caribbean island. We did a private boat charter from Reggae Beach with nevisyachtcharters.com which was one of our all time favorite excursions. If you just want to get out take a cab to Reggae beach, enjoy the scenery, and have lunch at Reggae each Bar

I think others may have mentioned it, but neither island (and most caribbean islands) do not have snakes.  When these islands were settle by the English, Dutch, etc. they brought along the Mongoose, thus, no snakes.  St. Kitts we did the volcano hike and I will tell you, if you are not in GREAT shape, do not do it.  70% of those doing the excursion never make it past the base of the mountain.  I didn't care too much for the St. Kitts port area.  As for St. Lucia, we didn't get off the boat this time, but heard the snorkeling excursions and history tours are great.
