Introduce yourself!

Hi all!

Not really new here but it's funny how you don't notice things sometimes and I just discovered this thread now.  Probably about time I introduce myself properly. I discovered this site years ago but have just joined the message boards about a year ago.  I love this community here.  I have learned so much from all of you.  Other sites and boards are quite negative but there is such a positive energy on RC blog and a whole wealth of info.  So thank you all.  Anyway, here goes...

My name is Sabrina and I live in southern Ontario in Canada.  No, it is not freezing cold here lol.  In fact, it was just in 90s for most of this week.  I fell in love with cruising right away 15 years ago.  We took a cruise on Adventure for our honeymoon to the Southern Caribbean.  There was no better way to spend a vacation after that.  In fact, my husband often complains that we should do something else but since I am the planner in the family we have found ourselves on many cruises since then.  I have two girls (ages 9,11) and we bring them on cruises sometimes.  They are going to be those kids that I am jealous of and reach diamond level before they are 18!  I love Royal even with some of their faults.  We have tried Carnival (never again) and Disney in between but we are pretty much loyal to Royal and will continue to be.  I am a bit partial to the Oasis class ships.  I prefer the amenities of the bigger ships over the smaller ones.  Central Park never gets old.  Our last cruise was just on Harmony last month which completes all three for us.  I am so excited to try out Symphony but sad to say that it's going to be a while since I am not willing to go Europe yet with the kids and I'm a teacher so my vacation times are pretty limited (so envious of all of you who can cruise during low season).  So probably 2019 for us.  Our next cruise is a big family cruise on DCL this December.  First time cruising with a group of 14 (8 adults and 6 kids between ages 2-11) so that will be interesting.  We usually prefer cruising just as a couple or just with the kids.  We are also "lazy cruisers" meaning our main objective is to sleep in, eat, and lay by the pool or balcony and relax.  Next up is Anthem in March 2018.  This will actually be the first RC cruise that we will bring our kids on.  We have cruised with them a few times in the past but it's been with DCL so it will be interesting to finally check out Adventure Ocean.  Normally, when my husband and I cruise alone we avoid that deck completely :8_laughing: It will also be our first time trying out a Quantum class ship.  In July 2018 we will actually be abandoning Royal to try out the new MSC Seaside.  I have mixed feelings about this because I love Royal and those Oasis class ships so much but we managed to book a Yacht Club suite (which is equivalent in benefits to about a GS on Royal and you get a butler!) for less than the cost of a JS on Royal.  Also, I have a hard time convincing my husband to sail the same ship twice and Symphony won't be in the US yet so it's going to be MSC for us next summer.  Future cruise goals include finally reaching Diamond level (we are one 7 night cruise away or sooner if I can convince hubby to get back into Sky Class), trying out a CLS at some point, and my biggest "wish" is trying out Star Class (ahh...we can all wish right? lol).  Well hopefully that wasn't too much info and I am really happy to have found this wonderful community of people.

Sabrina

Hello! I've been lurking here since August so I figured I may as well wave the white flag and come out of the shadows. I'm Kim from Southern NJ and I'll be taking my first RCI cruise next month on the Enchantment of the Seas! My mom's had a bumpy summer and we had to cancel our annual shore vacation due to some medical issues, so we decided to artificially extend our summer by taking a cruise. I sailed the Disney Magic over a decade ago, but Mom's never been on a cruise. It should be fun.

Meanwhile I've gone from "oh, a cruise, whatever" to visiting this place multiple times a day to following the darn ship around via port webcams and the cruise ship tracker map. I'm basically cyberstalking the ship.

You are not alone on that one ..... I think we're all cyber-stalkers of our favorite ship ..... I know I am, guilty as charged when it comes to Grandeur OTS.

Hey there Yall! My name is Candace and I am from NC. They hubby and I love to cruise, and have been doing so since our Honeymoon in December 1991. We are headed out on The Majesty of the Seas on Monday, for a little time off. I for the most part can't wait for Cococay, my favorite. I just want to say I use to belong on another board, but the people there are so rude, I started looking around and found this one today. No sense in adults treating each other like that. Life is too short! I for the most part like to read comments and learn from others, so I'm gonna get to reading!

Hello, my name is Joy. My husband and I live in Washington. I have been cruising since 2006. Our first RC Cruise was in 2008 on the Vision of the Seas. I am looking forward to my next cruise, and the cruise after that. Looking forward to making new friends from all over the world who love to cruise too. Nice to meet you all.

Glad to have you here, Joy!

Hey everyone! My name is Amber, I’m 32 years old and I live in Salt Lake City. I’ve been on seven cruises since 2012 and am obsessed. I’m hoping to relocate to Florida soon to be near cruise ports, and I really hope to make friends here on the message boards. It can get expensive and lonely to cruise solo all the time!

Hi, Amber. Welcome aboard to our online "family"!

Being in Florida does have its advantages when it comes to cursing..

OK, @arebee, I know you're ex-military and cursing probably comes as naturally as breathing at this point. How does being in Florida enhance that? :3_grin: :10_wink:

Because you can use phrases such as "Geez!  It's F""in hot out here!"  or "I hate the Sh***y humidity"

So, I realized I've never commented on this thread, and I feel like I should.

My name is Lance.  I'm lmillican1480 on Periscope and Twitter.  I took my first cruise when I was a kid on the Big Red Boat.  I hadn't been on one since when my wife and I went on Majesty of the Seas last month.  It was her first cruise, and now we are both hooked.  The cruise was free through my local casino, and I am glad it was with Royal as it lead me to this site as well as a great company.

I live in St. Charles, MO with my wife Abby and 3 y/o daughter Virginia.  Currently I'm working on becoming self-employed so that I can give myself more vacation time to take more cruises.  The number we have booked for next year will exceed my current vacation time, so I've purposely backed myself into a corner.  Plus, this community and RCI has helped me find my "why" in terms of what I want to do with my life.

I look forward to getting to know all of you, and meeting some of you eventually on group cruises.  I love all things food, as I did go to culinary school (don't cook professionally anymore though), trips to the casino, my fraternity, and my family (and in case my wife reads this, it's not necessarily in that order).

Hi Everyone! I've been following this blog for a few months and have never introduced myself. My name is Madelyn and I am from Minnesconsin (Border of Minnesota and Wisconsin, on the Wisconsin Side but my husband and I both work in Minnesota).  My favorite thing about cruising is going with people that have never been on a cruise before, and watching their faces when they get to experience all of the awesome things they have to offer.  My next cruise is a group cruise in February that I have planned entirely on my own and I am the ONLY person going that has ever been on a cruise before (out of 16).

Fun Fact: In college I did a study abroad on the Freedom of the Seas, and then interned with a travel agency.

Hello! I have been reading so many posts here but I have never introduced myself. I am Mary and I will be taking my first cruise in April on the Anthem. I live in Massachusetts, so I am looking forward to being able to drive to the port. I have learned so much reading your post but there is so much I still do not know!

This forum is my first non-Disney post!

Welcome Mary. I went to undergrad in Boston. Anthem is an awesome ship. I was on her last holiday. I will be on her again December 2018. @twangster has a great live blog about Anthem recently.

Hello!  I have been reading this blog for years, but I am not new to cruising.  My husband and I have been on 5 Disney cruises and 18 with Royal.  This blog has provided a wealth of information and help over the years.  Love it!  I finally decided to join.  I don't belong to ANY social media, which is probably why I hesitated to join.  Maybe I can provide some help to someone too.  :5_smiley:

Welcome and you already have!  I've always wondered what happens to C&A points when a cruise is shortened.  Thanks for your insight in the Grandeur thread!
