mworkman
Help me understand this? How is a Spacious Ocean View Balcony 42 sq ft bigger than an Ocean view balcony 50 sq ft based on the listed description. What am i missing? JLMoran
Note the square footage of the main room area. "Spacious" balcony is 202 square feet for the stateroom, vs. 198 square feet for the regular room. To sacrifice 8 square feet of balcony for +4 square feet of cabin space doesn't strike me as a good trade.
Buzzard05
Maybe the room is bigger?

The Spacious Balcony room is bigger by 4 sq ft, however your loose 8 sq ft of balcony. The wording would lead you to believe your gaining balcony space, but that's not truly correct! JLMoran
OK, the "spacious" rooms must be longer and not any wider. The section about the beds notes that the regular room has a single sofa bed or a pullman and sleeps 3, where the "spacious" one has a double sofa bed and sleeps up to 4. My takeaway after reading that is that the "spacious" room is just marketing speak to families with kids, telling them they can get parents and two kids in one room. If you're traveling as a couple, better in my view to get the regular room with the bigger balcony.
mworkman
@JLMoran I agree with you! I just find it funny how the wording leads you to believe your gaining balcony space when your truly not.

If you were gaining balcony space, it would have read "Ocean View Spacious Balcony". RestingBird and mworkman
rjac
From my experience, the Ocean View Spacious Balconies are located on the hump. So, the staterooms are the same size as the Ocean View Balcony rooms, the "spacious" balconies are just longer (from the sliding glass door to the railing. DocLC
From my experience, mostly on the Radiance class ships, the larger balcony cabins aren't noticeably larger. They are a little bit wider. However, they are NECESSARY if you are using the sleeper sofa. On the regular sized balcony, it is impossible to get around the sofa bed when it is extended as it extends all the way to the desk. With the larger balcony cabin, there's still a little room at the foot of the bed to get by.
