Japan and Arctic Circle. Royal does Norwsy, but didn't go as far North as other lines. I also haven't seen any Japan summer itineraries.

Did you see the Viking cruise in Norway on Mighty Cruise Ships?  Looked spectacular!

Send to me that Fantastica is the experience most want to begin with. However, if they don't care when they done, don't want room service included, or drink vouchers, they may be fine with Bella. Also, the experience is different in the Caribbean, especially in the MDR where water, coffee, and trees are served unlike with the European sailings.

They need water, coffee, and tea.  I better look to see if that is included in their sailings out of Miami.

Thanks, Kris.  This is in line with what I have heard from others who have been on MSC as well.  I've heard lots of people complain that unless you're in a Yacht Club room, you're really treated like steerage.

This kind of thing will not go over very well with North American cruisers.  If they hope to compete with the big boys they're going to have to make some changes to at least provide a minimal amount of acceptable amenities to everyone.

Their prices do seem very appealing, but I'm beginning to see why....

@WAAAYTOOO I feel the same way. We actually booked the Seaside twice. Once for March with a large group and once in July for just my husband and I. But in march I could not get the Yacht Club only an Aurea suite. In the end, I backed out and cancelled the march sailing and just kept the July one that we have in the Yacht Club.

I hope none of those trees are hemlock! :4_joy:

I really do get a kick of what autocorrect does with your posts. I always get the intended meaning, but those auto-changes are right up there with "Let's eat Grandma!" vs. "Let's eat, Grandma!"

Trees/tea; aren't they all the same. ;)

I thought about booking a Celebrity cruise..and I finally did last nite! I couldn't say no to the resident rate it was offering me...so its a quick 3 day Bahamas cruise on the Equinox, but I figured that's a good way for a quick comparison and see if I would like to cruise more on Celebrity or stick with Royal!

Wondering what the biggest differences I should expect after 9 cruises with Royal? Love to hear some thoughts and feedback. One of my concerns is that it would be a quiet laid back cruise on Celebrity tends to cater to an older crowd that Royal or am I wrong? Perhaps being a 3 day cruise to Nassau will make it a little more lively?

Like any line, demographics can vary, but I to a significant extent, the higher average age you see on X is not becuase of older passengers, but fewer families.  This is especially true of Caribbean sailings, which, in our experience, have many younger couples in addition to retirement-age folks. There are certainly some families with children, but far fewer than on Royal.  We've observed quite a late night crowd on our X Caribbean sailings.

Congrats on the booking! Out of curiosity, where does the cruise depart from? I know Celebrity also sails out of Cape Liberty, and they have Bermuda getaways of a few different durations. Might be another option for you, as I remember airfare is always a cost factor and a Cape Liberty departure might let you drive.

@Sabrinaklai.....it was a NB resident rate..not sure if it was all across Canada or not..but starting at $99 for an inside room with a $75 OBC.....it was almost free....ha...departs on Jan 17th out of Miami

@monorailmedic...glad to hear that. I have been disappointed on a few Royal cruises with the lack of nightlife....sounds like Equinox has some pretty interesting clubs and night venues which makes me hope this is the case.

The one thing I haven't been able to figure out yet what I should do is the drink package..as they have 3 levels....I am think the middle one which is what I used to do with Royal when they had the option..but looks like it only covers up to $9 drinks which makes me think it may be quite limited??!

If you change it to a 4-night you can take advantage of their pick 2 promotion: https://www.celebritycruises.com/cruise-deals/special-offer

You can choose from a drink package, wifi, prepaid tips and $150 OBC.

"Rats, I really wish I went with the more limiting drink package" said no one ever.  Go large! :1_grinning:

In seriousness, from what I've been reading elsewhere online, it sounds like the deciding factor should be how big you are on wine, martinis and top-shelf liquor.  If you're not a wine drinker or not likely to venture beyond the house wine, prefer simple well to call cocktails and aren't going for the craft martini bar, you can save a few dollars and stick with the Classic package.  You can still order a couple of drinks that cost more than $9.  It looks like they just charge you the difference and not the full price. (so a $13 cocktail would cost you $4).

thanks for the info!...Believe you me, I get my moneys worth out of a drink package..usually the first day drinks I enjoy equal the cost of the 4 day drink package so the next 3 days are "free" for me...lol

I always did the higher end package on Royal so prob will this time...but as I am not familiar with the drink prices on Celebrity and the middle package only covers up to $9 I really will have to take a hard look at it.

For wine its usually just a glass or two at dinner...beer is usually the first drink or two of the day..then its all mixed drinks for the rest of the day. I do enjoy Baileys in my coffee in the morning and often on the rocks when playing at the casino but seems they consider Baileys to be part of the premium package on Celebrity?!(See, right there I am at 8-10 drinks and that's before the night even starts...lol)

This from Millie in June.  Compares 'classic' versus 'premium'.  A vodka tonic with classic would be Absolute.  A vodka tonic with premium could be Chopin or Grey Goose but you have to ask for that if you have the premium package.  For example I'd ask for a Grey Goose and Tonic.

If you buy classic they offer an onboard upgrade to premium.  It takes 2 premium drinks per day to justify the upgrade if i remember correctly (based on overage charges to pay for premium  liquor per drink over classic).  For the first couple of days I heard bartenders telling folks that a few times.

Back to the GS topic... It's what we book all the time now on RC.  We are thinking of booking Edge but all suites are booked.  They have a Concierge class room that is definitely smaller than a GS, but it offers all the perks of a GS.  I'm thinking of going for it since we're not in the room that much anyway but we get all the "good stuff".  We are spoiled with early boarding and disembarking plus concierge lounge, separate dining room and sun deck.. I know...first world problems.  Just thinking out loud. All thoughts welcome.

Can anyone enlighten me as to what Celebrity has that is similar to Royal's  Cruise Compass and any idea where I could go to take a look at them?

I guess I need to find a Celebrity Cruiseblog but it wouldn't be nearly as good as this site of course!!

I like to take a look at the cruise compass's from the same boat/itinerary before I go to get a good idea what to look for and plan for and the can't miss type things.

Hoping Celebrity has something similar to this?!

They're called "Celebrity Today".  There are a number of them already scanned and out htere, but my quick search didn't reveal any recent ones.  I have one from last Dec I think - I'll try and scan it later on and post it to where I have the Reflection articles: http://www.cruisehabit.com/tags/celebrity-reflection
