Tampa

Hi all, 

there will be 3 adults pre cruise out of Tampa. We are looking for a nice 4* or above with pool hotel. We have Marriott status but are not 100% committed to them. We arrive at 11:00am so have a good amount of time in Tampa so recommendations on what to do would be nice.

We stayed at Embassy Suites when we did our cruise out of Tampa last year.  We ended up staying at the one by the airport only because the one right by the cruise port was booked.  It was still a nice hotel with a nice pool.  When we disembarked from the cruise we walked to the one that was right by the cruise port to rent a car for the day.  We only saw the lobby of that one but it looked really nice.  We like Embassy Suites because we have 6 people and they give you 2 separate rooms for the price of one room.  That might be nice for 3 people.  There's a free trolly shuttle around Tampa that can take you to the cruise port, right in front of the hotel, if you didn't want to walk the couple of blocks.

There is a Marriott right there at the port called Marriott Waterside. It is our favorite place to stay. We travel there a couple times a year for hockey games and really enjoy the hotel and its location. We’ve also stayed there for a cruise.

We recently stayed at the Hampton Inn near the port. Great hotel and location.

I've found that the Marriott Waterfront is way overpriced compared to the Embassy Suites which is very close. A note about the Embassy Suites is that the free trolley stops right in front of the lobby, and you can get to the port in minutes with little headache. I personally prefer Marriott properties in most cases, but not this one.

Ybor City has great nightlife and restaurants.  Whichever hotel you choose, utilizing free trolley is best option.  I have stayed all 3 options and enjoyed the stay.

I priced the marriotts out today and was shocked at how expensive they were. For any of them.

Which Embassy Suites is the one by the cruise port and do they have an airport shuttle? Thanks
