Thought Id share this here - not sure I believe it though, but our server in Chops told us that when Oasis gets its dry dock in October, one of the changes will be getting rid of Portside BBQ and putting in a Wonderland in its place.

To me it would make more sense putting in a Mason Jar, but I guess we shall see...

I would not believe that one.  Wonderland is on its way out.

If anything I would have thought Allure would get port side BBQ.  I’m sure that was the original plan before its amplification was delayed.  I can’t imagine Oasis getting Wonderland either.  I think your doubt on believing that one is well placed.

Why would they get rid of portside instead of adding it to other ships?

Portside BBQ has not been the success that Royal had thought it would be.  You will not see it added to any further ships

It was the worst BBQ I've ever had back in October. And ever since Mr Liberty saw fit to basically double to cost of the menu across the board, its an even worse value proposition. By the end of our sailing it was woefully empty even during peak times. Word gets around fast.

I can totally see Mason Jar and it's fun bar area replacing Portside BBQ.

Wonderland is interesting, but really struggles with their concept on the two occasions we visited it on separate sailings on Symphony. We really wanted to like it, but just don't perceive the value proposition unlike the other specialty dining options.

I am debating whether or not to try Wonderland on my Symphony sailing in November.  I got the UDP but it seems the overall feelings towards WL is that it isn't that good.  Definitely doing Izumi, Chops, Jamies, Hooked and CP150 which leaves two nights open as well as some lunches.

I am not a fan of Wonderland BUT I do think it is worth a try - at least once.  Some people really love it...especially if you're an adventurous eater (which I am not, I guess...).  The themed stuff is really fun and the service was really exceptional...it's just the food that is a bit quirky.  I say that the time to try Wonderland is when you have the UDP...it's going to give you the biggest bang for your buck and if you don't like it, you won't ever have to try it again.  Just my 2 cents.

It's kinda of a 1 trick pony.  One and done.   Menu and experience are static.

Wonderland - its best to go with a few/group. The servers will usually bring out most of the first courses. You have to chose your own entree. As mentioned in the blog(recently); is the Rib eye. They also will bring you all the desserts, which includes The World😀

Re:  wonderland, first we love it.  Itis not the type of place you could go every night, like Chops Jamie's or Hooked.

We went twice this week on our UDP and they were packed each night, as was Hooked both times we went.  The lowest turn out in specialty restaurants we ate in was Mason Jar, about half full. (We enjoyed Mason Jar)

You'll get a ton of different opinions.  We tried it on Wonder and really enjoyed it.  It's fun with the theming and different foods (we had a teen with us).  They really accommodated (e.g. DH has allergies so they worked around that, DH and i don't eat meat...and they brought out a mac and cheese appetizer for our teen).  We ordered our mains but they just brought the rest...and a great variety.  If you haven't tried it, then I suggest to do so if you have the time in your plan.

Our thoughts exactly.

If the food tasted as spectacular as it looked, we'd go there every sailing on an Oasis class ship.

Did you try the liquid lobster? That was the best. I could have had a whole bowl of that.

Our family was really divided on Wonderland on Ovation earlier this year. I loved it, but I'm also a weirdo who will eat almost anything once. My husband liked the flavors, but was weirded out by it in general. Our kids liked their food, and thought it was interesting, but I doubt they'd enjoy it a second time.

That said, I have a cruise booked on Oasis for next year (well past the drydock) and there is no mention of Wonderland anywhere in the cruise planner. I'm pretty sure this dry dock is just the general maintenance/tune up type.

Haha this sounds so much like my wife and I. She will try anything and I'm weirded out by any food that looks a little different.
