OCSC Mike Posted June 30, 2024 Report Posted June 30, 2024 After Cozumel on Day 4 it's now scheduled to get the heck out of the Caribbean and go to Nassau instead of Roatan and Costa Maya. WAAAYTOOO and Sweety 2 Quote
JasonOasis Posted June 30, 2024 Report Posted June 30, 2024 According to the National Hurricane Center Hurricane Beryl is expected to march across the Caribbean Sea, looking at their spaghetti model if the storm stays on their modeled tracks it will impact some part of the Yucatan Peninsula and parts of Honduras may also feel the effects of Beryl as it passes by. As disappointing as it may be for customers it's better to have those ships out of the way of the storm safely in Nassau instead of trying to outrun what is now a category 4 hurricane. Quote

No doubt. I expected there to be a change. Quote
wordell1 Posted July 2, 2024 Report Posted July 2, 2024 I just got back from Harmony and am interested to see what changes they will make. We had a perfect week but the cruise before had terrible weather and it sounds like there will be issue this week as well. I'm not sure what changes they can realistically make from Galveston other than to cancel stops and have some days at sea. Neesa 1 Quote
Neesa Posted July 2, 2024 Report Posted July 2, 2024 @wordell1 I was thinking about you & your celebration sailing! Congratulations to your son I believe he has graduated if I'm not mistaken. You treated him and his friends to the sailing on the Harmony, correct? I LOVE that! I am so glad you had fantastic weather, was it stressful having multiple teens when you are used to your son who is well versed in cruising? I LOVE that you did that for the kiddo, well fine young man now! Oh how fast they grow up! Sorry for the hijack @OCSC Mike but I was lurking around waiting for @wordell1 to appear! Have an amazing summer all! OCSC Mike 1 Quote

We're all about the tangents here! I was just sharing news anyway. This wasn't meant to be an ongoing topic or anything. There's one in the main forum for weather-related issues. Neesa 1 Quote

Have an amazing summer all! We had a great cruise. His 2 friends had never cruised before so it was kind of fun to see them experience it for the 1st time. They had their own room so we basically let them do their own thing. We did zip lining and snorkeling in Roatan and did Crazy Lobster in Costa Maya and Paradise Beach in Cozumel. They enjoyed the 18 drinking age. OCSC Mike, Ampurp85 and Neesa 2 1 Quote

Mostly about food and drink but I'll take anything. Been over-planning a visit there for our cruise in 12 days for months and looking forward to it (weather-permitting) but still enjoy reading about it to help the countdown pass. Quote

I preferred paradise beach before it went all inclusive. I used to get a large drink and a full plate of food at at a reasonable price. They have basically eliminated that option so I do the all inclusive. With the all inclusive, everything comes in a mini version. The drinks are fine, and the service is very good. The food is good, but it's not a full meal. The waiters are available and responsive so it works out. We tried Nachi Cocuum last year and I think the drinks and food are of similar quality, but the service is better at PB. NC has a nicer beach and I like the chair set up better. PB has an awesome pool. PB is much more crowded but has way more options for a family which is why we chose it with 3 18 year olds. I would probably choose NC for just my wife and I, but it's close. OCSC Mike Posted July 2, 2024 Author Report Posted July 2, 2024 Thanks. I should have been clearer and now I feel bad. I still appreciate all the info even if I knew a lot of it. We went to Nachi last October and didn’t love the food, drinks, or service (just the peacefulness). Margaritas were fine but the frozen drinks were all ice. That’s why we’re trying PB… I like the unlimited food/drink part since I eat a lot & like to try different things (so the small portions work for me). I’ll be full by the time I’m done ordering throughout the day, trust me, lol. We splurged on a daybed to offset the possible crowds (not that it was super expensive or anything). Any favorite food or beverage items? Quote

Any favorite food or beverage items? The tacos from the taco truck were very good. Mexican street tacos. The guacamole is really good. They usually bring some right away with some chips. I asked for more. I also had some pizza which was just ok, similar to the ship pizza. OCSC Mike 1 Quote
wordell1 Posted July 2, 2024 Report Posted July 2, 2024 I actually really like PB. I just liked it a lot more as a pay as you go. OCSC Mike 1 Quote

Thanks again; I'd be looking forward to it either way but like reading opinions. I envision several taco truck re-orders and the pizza will be on my wife's "I don't eat Mexican" list. Making sure the menu had options for her (and there are several) was important. Quote
GatorCruiser Posted July 2, 2024 Report Posted July 2, 2024 How is krazy lobster if you don’t mind me asking. Gonna be in costa maya soon and was deciding whether to check it out. Quote

They have installed a “fence” in the water to restrain the sea grass and it was really doing its job last week. No sea grass at all. Get there early. We were early and got a nice table near the beach. By midday it was crowded. It’s nothing fancy but we’ve always enjoyed going there. barjpoe Posted July 3, 2024 Report Posted July 3, 2024 How do you get to Krazy Lobster? Walk ; Taxi ; or? Quote

You may find that drivers will try to convince you that you need a reservation at KL. You do not - they don't even take them. The driver probably gets a kickback for taking you elsewhere. WAAAYTOOO Posted July 3, 2024 Report Posted July 3, 2024 When we went to the KL last week, I was surprised that the taxis were going both ways (to and from Mahahual). The last time we went, the taxis only went back to the port from Mahahual....you had to take a shuttle over. I guess they have discontinued the shuttle ? $4 PP each way was the cab fare. If you do decide to go to KL (or anywhere else along the boardwalk) and you also want to take advantage of the $20 beachfront massage (and I highly recommend that you do !), do NOT allow anyone to "arrange" a massage for you. If you do, the price will automatically double as the "arranger" will want a kickback. It is SO easy to just walk a few extra steps over to the massage area and make the deal yourself. asquared17 1 Quote
