Ultimate Dinning Change/Question

Hi All,

I have my first cruise on RCCL coming up in Dec. I haven't ever given business to this company so I don't really have a clue how well they operate.  I ordered the ultimate dinning package back in May for $168 a person.  One of the call outs is for Izumis or ala carte dining its a $50 credit.  Looking at the cruise planner now it states it is a $35 credit.  I will be calling RCCL to confirm which credit level it will be but wanted to know from any of your past expirences will RCCL honor the $50 level when I booked or the $35 credit that is now offered?

I'm honestly not sure. Someone else mentioned that change and I cannot now find any reference to the $50 credit at Izumi on the site anymore. Moreover, I doubt the staff at Izumi will have any way to know you booked before the change.

You could state your case to the staff, and I'd bet the manager would be okay with it, but I'd expect to get the "Sorry sir, the policy changed..." speech.

I know this wont make you feel any better, but $50 per person is a ridiculous amount of money for one meal per person.  I love sushi and was ordering sushi just for the sake of ordering and I still didn't hit $50.  Having the stipend come down to $35 is no tangible loss, in practice.

And this is clearly a case where the prices on board the ship are definitely better than land restaurants, at least for the good sushi places I visit here in NJ. I went with my daughter this weekend and my three specialty rolls, plus two pieces of sea urchin (:15_yum:), were about $35 by themselves. And I was still hungry!

Time before that I was ravenous, and I was ordering only a la carte sushi with no rolls at all. I was wondering why we were getting scallion rolls and mochi and a fair bit of other stuff "on the house" throughout the meal, and then I saw the bill the four of us had racked up! Turns out I had ordered a solid $50 or $60 worth of sushi (30 pieces?) all by myself.  :51_scream: :7_sweat_smile:

Feedback I got from RCCL casino reservation line was: "We probably will honor the $50 credit but please confirm and discuss with the desk at Izumis.".  This is going to be my canary in the coal mine for dealing with RCCL, not that its a huge deal.  If the desk honor's the $50 credit then it lets me know that RCCL have empowered their employees to correct small disputes around relatively small $$.  If not, then they are relying on systems and policies instead of employee judgement.  It will just adjust my approach to how to interact with them going forward.

I don't think I could do $50 of sushi anywho.

The credit use to be $30 two adults ($60 total) were able to eat along with a kid with a very big appetite and still had money left over for dessert. At $35, you should have enough credit, but even so if you were told $50 when you booked that's what you're entitled to get.

We spent about $60 last week on Serenade between an  appetizers, 2 salads, dx sushi assortment and a seafood hot rock.  My wife is not a big sushi eater, so I did most of the damage with the sushi. Could have spent more if we wanted, I guess. If you are a huge sushi eater, than you could easily spend $100, but we would have comfortable with a $35pp credit. But, if the promo said $50, you should get $50.
