marymcpherson Posted September 8, 2017 Report Share Posted September 8, 2017 Me and my Family are booked on a 7 day Southern Caribbean out of Puerto Rico on Jan 7 with stops in St. Croix, Phillipsburg, Roseau, Bridgetown, and St George's. Its our first time on a RCI cruise, we've sailed with Carnival in the past but are really looking forward to this one. Has anyone sailed on the Jewel since its refurbishment? If so how did you like it? Anyone have any recommendations for shore excursions? Are the specialty dining options worth the extra money or are the included options enough? I think dining at one for a night or two is a good idea. The specialty dining augments the complimentary food, and in most cases offers food otherwise not available (sushi, steak, etc). As far as shore excursions look at cruise critic and trip adviser for ideas. The specialty restaurants are excellent and worth the money. There are all kinds of things to do on board. Just check the cruise compass daily. In fact you can google the ships name and cruise compass and you can see what goes on day to day. Also google the ships name and reviews. As you are a first timer on RC WELCOME aboard. It won"t be your last time either. Also on board they hold seminars for what to do in each port.. These are all beautiful islands. cookingyo Posted September 11, 2017 Report Share Posted September 11, 2017 We did Giovanni’s Table on night 1 and CHOPS on night 2 with the BOGO deal on Jewel. Saved some $$ and had a couple of really good meals when we sailed on her this summer through the Greek Islands. I have some pictures of the ship HERE.
