J_Keeble
I have just booked a 7 night cruise from shanghai which visits a couple of places in japan, This is on board Quantum of the Seas in a spa junior suite which we got at a fantastic rate might I add! Im very excited to try quantum out of shanghai and see how it differs from my anthem cruise in just over 2 months. I was looking at the deck plans and it appears that there is no music hall?!!!! it has been changed to 'vip casino' does anyone know anything about this at all? I know the Asian market love a good gamble but converting the whole music hall seems a little extreme to me ... Also I watched a video on quantum and the lady said that the menus in the 4 main restaurants were each different? the video was fairly recent and lady was diamond plus so obviously has some knowledge on royals dining rooms etc. any answers would be greatly appreciated :)
EmersonNZ
We were on Quantum last year (New Zealand/Pacific) and there was a Music Hall. I believe they do some quick modifications between the Chinese season and the Australia/New Zealand season. In you case sailing out of Shanghai, I imagine the Casino will still be in place. When you say the Chinese market loves gambling.... believe me they LOVE gambling. The VIP lounge on Quantum I am sure is earning RCLmore per sq 'm' than any ship in the fleet. It was announced with the other changes when the ship was moving to China that the casino would be expanded into the Music Hall.

J_Keeble
Ah yes perfect, I've been reading that only a section of the music hall has been altered, only time will tell.
cookingyo
On a side note, the Spa Jr Suites are great cabins. J_Keeble
F1guynz
They definitely seem to make changes to the ships during their Chinese cruises. There are no Royal Class suites and Johnny Rockets becomes a noodle bar. From what I understand they do not do the Broadway shows they have when they are elsewhere in the world. We are on Ovation in November but I imagine the changes would be similar for Quantum.

If they did what they did last year when we were on OVation out of Sydney they change the VIP Casino back to the Music Hall but keep the noodle bar (Which was average). The stage show was more like a chorus girl show (During it I was thinking they kinda put the women's rights movement back 30 years....). I certainly would have preferred a Broadway musical or even one of Royals own Broadway type shows. We had a great cruise and apart from that show, I can't speak highly enough of the whole experience. You are going to love your cruise. J_Keeble
