Diamond benefit

Recommended Posts

I will be Diamond when I sail Icon in May.  I’m wondering if I should scrap getting the drink package since I get 4 drinks a day.  I can also bring wine on board. I’m really a wine drinker.  May try an occasional drink recommended by Matt or drink of the day.

Question, will my husband also be able to get 4 drinks a day or can I share my drink coupons with him.

If I don’t use all 4 coupons on a day, can I use them the next day?

Yes, your husband should be Diamond, so he gets his 4 drinks (If he isn't officially Dian=mond, call C&A and get his status matched to yours)

Diamond drinks are 100% shareable

Diamond drinks are a "use it or lose it" proposition, they do not carry over, the count resets everyday at 0500

I guess this depends on you. With 4 free per day, you really have to be a heavy drinker to make the drink package pay.

On the other hand,  it's very nice to have the drink cup that can be used at the freestyle machines.

The drink package requires a tip at purchase.  You really should tip the diamond vouchers at the time of service, so the drink package can be more convenient

We stopped buying the DBP when we hit diamond, but we still get the refreshment package.

We did too as we are not heavy drinkers.  My wife mainly uses the vouchers -- mainly mocktails and coffee, I use the casino bar with prime, and I usually buy myself the soda package and prepurchase water for the room.  Huge savings compared to the days of old when drinks were bold.

This is good.  We will reach diamond after our cruise in the summer but since our son already turned 18 he missed getting Diamond status.  Our younger one however will be since she's under 18.  Thus, that means that for our next cruise in December, she can legitimately share 2 of her 4 drinks with her brother each day?  She certainly doesn't need 4 sodas or 4 pina coladas a day so this works out well.

Yes, your kids can share the vouchers, although your daughter will have to use her card to get them.

Unfortunately,  any unused vouchers expire at the end of the day. They do not accumulate.

You can grab enough canned drinks at the end of the day and enjoy them at your leisure.

That list of benefits is the complete list of benefits. There are no hidden perks that they do not tell you about upfront and make you discover on your own.

where is this benefit held - I've never seen it -- "Private departure lounge with continental breakfast"

I think they mean the diamond lounge, but I am not sure.

Another one I've never been able to get is priority wait list for sold out shore excursions

We have had this on other cruise lines but have never seen it on Royal, at least not in the last 6 years. Suspect that with COVID it was permanently dropped. In Galveston I did not see a departure lounge other than the Suite and Pinnacle lounge, so us lowly D+ and Diamond passengers have to wait and dash to the Schooner Bar for a drink when they call us in. Oh by the way, if you do go out of Galveston they call the boarding by tier level. The Suites and Pinnacles have their own departure area and the Key folks go first in the other area followed by D+, Diamond and on down. As a Diamond you get on quickly before the rush. This is a non-published benefit.

We just reached Diamond status which was a goal we should have hit in 2020 but we all know what happened.  I don't drink so I can go to any bar and they will give me all at once 4 bottles of water.  My husband has about 2 glasses of wine a night so with the 4 free drinks he has been enjoying trying out a mixed drink every day.   He really liked the Coco Loco when we were at Coco Cay.

The Diamond Lounge was so much nicer than I thought it would be.  It's a quiet area and was barely used when we were b2b on Liberty in April.  I could get really spoiled having a concierge, Willy was the best !  It's so nice to get a quick answer and not have to stand in line at guest services.

We also got the free photos which was a nice perk since we haven't bought any photos in years.  We did find out that photographers really push you to pose for a picture because they are given a goal of 300 photos per day.  They don't get in trouble if you don't buy them but it's a daily goal that they have to reach.  I thought they would be penalized if we posed but never bought the photos and I was told that they just need to hit 300 photos a day.

Thanks I have yet to ask photographers a similar question.

I do know a lot of bartenders

And

Of course I interigate every room steward I come in contact with on a regular basis  even the one down the hall that sees me regular.

Have met photographers that I both like and take good pics.  Problem is as I only take the free one.  But if they get credit for each Pic I'll visit with those i know and like more, even if not dressed for a Pic I'll select

Will also talk shop with them a little more going forward

Thanks for info

Finally, I just reach Diamond. I know about the 4 drinks per day.  I know I can go to the diamond lounge for the coffee.  What other benefit do I get?

Beside that's list here?

You can now look down on other cruisers who are not diamond and scoff at the crew who do not acknowledge your profound presence

@CruiseGus We got our free photos at the end of the last cruise and the one I ended up loving was one from dinner in the MDR.  We were dressed very casually and it has become my favorite photo of the two of us.  It's just natural, easy going and that is us exactly in a photo.  I hadn't even planned on getting the photo and I think that's what helped us to just relax instead of posing.
